Disappointed by Lack of Communication – A Mixed Experience
My boyfriend and I were looking forward to a relaxing getaway at what has long been his favorite hotel in Palm Springs. We specifically booked this stay with the expectation that the adults-only Elixir pool would be open, as it's a big part of what makes the property special for us. Unfortunately, the hotel failed to communicate that the Elixir pool would be closed during our stay.
When we raised the issue with the front desk, we were met with little empathy. They stated that the family pool was effectively like the 21+ pool, and therefore no refund, compensation, or even a gesture of goodwill would be offered. They referred us to hotel management and mentioned that the pool was closed for remodeling due to the “off-season”—a surprising claim considering our visit was in early June, which is not typically off-season for Palm Springs.
This lack of transparency and unwillingness to accommodate left a sour note on what should have been a good start to our trip. My boyfriend's initial excitement quickly turned into disappointment.
That said, there were still bright spots. Our room was beautiful, and the bartender at GiGi's truly went above and beyond. He was attentive and made us feel seen during an otherwise frustrating experience. At the end of the night, he even offered us a nightcap on the house as a kind gesture to make up for the hotel’s shortcomings.
It is left to be seen whether we return to V Palm Springs.
