The staff are your greatest asset. They were mostly friendly, helpful and courteous. On my early departure I enquired about tap water and was told no one and none was available. The room was tired and had 1980’s bathroom and a hot towel rail that didn’t function. Skirting was missing next to the dressing table. The menu was poor and the food presented; a feather blade steak, presented in a soup plate. The mash was soggy and the jus had no taste. Veg was a mix of undercooked carrots and stewed green beans. At least 3 of the ice cream selections were unavailable. A black walled dining room with dark brown, wooden tables simply added to the gloom of the experience. A pity because I have stayed at other Holiday Inns and thought I had identified a good product. Again thanks to the check and restaurant staff. Disappointed on the response on the check out member where, little effort could have resolved a request for water which, was for medication. I could see lights on in the kitchen area.
