The unit has so many customized features that make it stand out, from the fire pit (fire already built) and sauna (water bucket already filled) to the kitchen and bedrooms, where no detail has been missed. "Booked this for Father’s Day weekend with my two kids. I think we were hoping for a kind of “dip your toes in” Chesapeake escape — something between Lake Anna and Ocean City. Saw “waterview” and figured maybe we’d land somewhere special. That wasn’t quite what we got. The house itself is clean and quiet. No issues with check-in. The upstairs deck is the one defining feature — nice for sitting out at night. But beyond that, this felt more like a peaceful neighborhood retreat than a Bay...

"The property itself is lovely, but the neighborhood has seen better days. The city other than the one street with the cafe and mural seems to be vacant and there isn’t much to do for a family with young children other than the park with the light house. But like I said, the home was lovely."

"This house is huge and has lots of different indoor and outdoor gathering spaces so the kids and adults in our group of three families didn’t have to be on top of each other in one living space the whole time. Big firepit area and huge lawn were great, and we enjoyed the kayaks and canoe. There’s a place to buy fresh crabs, oysters, and shrimp very close by, and the house has everything you need for a crab night. The owner was incredibly responsive and kind."

"The place is tucked away and totally private, beautiful view, comfortable and clean. The owners were very accommodating to one issue that we had with the house resolved quickly. House is equipped with a ton of amenities and a 6seater limo style golf cart to carry everyone and their things to the fishing pier. We wish we had stayed longer. "

"The Chesapeake Mansion was even better than it looks on the VRBO listing. Huge house but still managed to feel warm and inviting, never cold or stand-offish. We cooked big dinners for our group of 12 and the kitchen was perfect for that. Billiards room was fun, amazing bar room, also an exercise room. Walking out on the dock was always a treat. "This is a beautiful historic property and the perfect setting for any escape. From the picturesque waterfront, to the charm of a historic home, this was truly a place to relax and enjoy the beauty of St. Michael’s. Our dogs loved the dock and swimming in Miles Bay, my teen and her friend enjoyed grabbing some sun on the decks. Peaceful sunsets with my husband and plenty of space to host a crab feast; or sneak into town for a meal at Ruse - this spot has it all. We can’t wait to come back!"
