"The house has a very large open living room upstairs, plenty of bedrooms for us. The backyard is large, although most of it fairly steep slope towards the lake. The lake was up several feet when we stayed, so the beach in the photos was under water. Pella is a 7-8 minute drive away. Overall we liked the property."

"The 1856 Rock House did not disappoint!! Such a cozy charming piece of history!! My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Pella is a charming little town with lots to see and do!! "

"House was beautiful, lovely decor and furniture. Deck was well appointed with hot tub, grill, patio set. Would have liked just slightly more privacy, side deck was visible from road so passersby could see us hanging out in the hot tub, a privacy screen to the roadside would be an excellent addition. Otherwise, private back area to woods which was nice. "

"The cabin was perfect for our weekend hiking trip. The cabin was just as advertised and the host was very responsive with any questions I had. We cooked three delicious meals on the blackstone while enjoying the beautiful view of the river. We would definitely book this place again. "

"So peaceful!We named the goat Chocolate and the dog Puppy"

"We had our kids/ grandkids coming and going through the week. Spacious rooms. Laundry on site so we could do sheets and towels between rounds of kids.Everything in Pella was within walking distance, and the marina was an easy drive. The kitchen had great cookware and ample serving space ."

"The pictures don't do this place justice. The house is clean, spacious, and has everything you need. We loved sitting on the huge deck and took advantage of the very clean, heated pool. The host was very responsive to our questions and needs. The only suggestion would be putting some darker curtains on the windows in the upstairs bedrooms, the sun had us up pretty early. Overall this was the perfect place for our girl's weekend and we would definitely stay again!"

"We had a wonderful time. Private pool and hot tub were great, house was fantastic. Thank you for being exactly as advertised. "

"We stayed 3 nights while in area fishing Lake Rathbun. Kept our boat at the marina which was only about a 10 minute drive. House was clean, updated, and AC worked great as temps were mid to upper 90’s. Beds were comfortable and property had all the needed amenities. Highly recommend. "

"Great place to stay, very nice both inside and out. Great for families to spend time together."

"Awesome little cabin for long weekend away, but still big enough for our family of 6. Kids loved being able to walk out the door and fish the river. We really enjoyed the screened in porch. Hostess was great to work with and super responsive, everything we needed was provided. Would definitely stay again!"

"We really enjoyed our vacation! The pool and the pontoon we rented were the best! The house was nice . Struggled with the hot water, the kitchen wasn't really fully stocked. I would have brought things had I known. I hated having to drive to get more supplies, more toilet paper, kleenex, cork screw, more garbage bags. Things that should have come with the rental! We all loved the pool and fire pit. The house was clean and plenty of room."
