We really enjoyed our stay here. Very cute, clean motel, reasonably priced. It was close to what we wanted to see and Ocracoke island is beautiful. Beautiful beaches, wonderful time.

Great stay

We loved where we stayed. Had a front porch, back deck and a sitting area on dock overlooking the bay and could see the light house. We were able to walk to most stores and resorts. So Enjoyed it!!!

Cute Little Place / Fair Price

This is a very clean mom and pop owned hotel with basic amenities. The staff was very friendly. It is walking distance to food, shopping, and the ferry terminal. I will probably stay again when traveling through again next year. I highly recommend.

I like a motel..being able to open the door ..let fresh air in...loved being on Silver Lake.. deck for sitting and watching wild, boats, etc..Could use some new outdoor furniture..some broken, warped etc..not inviting

Ocracoke’s Hidden Gem

The Bluff Shoals Motel was an excellent choice for Ocracoke during the off season. Room was clean and comfortable. Amenities a bit dated but overall an excellent stay. The biggest selling point was the back garden that had the most stunning views of the harbor and lighthouse. Watching the sunset from the Adirondack chairs with a glass of wine was the perfect ending to the day. It was an added bonus that Dajio’s was across the street with some of the best food and service on the island. A must try for sure!

It was nothing like the pictures or description. Had a very unpleasant smell. Internet and cable horrible. Seemed to be a stopover for fishermen. However, the staff were very helpful.

Older but very clean

This is one of the older hotels on the island. We stayed off season and were the only quest that night. In fact we never saw the staff. Our room was left open with the keys and the next morning we left them in the office. Goes to tell how great this little town is. Very trustworthy. The hotel is located right downtown giving it easy walking to most things of interest. It is one of the older hotels. Definitely no extras but it was very clean and looks to have been freshly painted. I would stay again.

Property has some good points but No one was available to ask questions outside areas were not very nice needs some TLC Bathroom was not very clean figtures need replacement Could not get tv to work provided coffee maker without coffee pods or creamier??

PERFECT! - LOVED IT!!

My wife and I had a WONDERFUL time celebrating our 41 anniversary (Dec 30, 2024) and we LOVED staying at the Bluff Shoal Motel!! We GREATLY ENJOYED 5 days and 4 nights of peace and relaxation! The motel manager, Sissy, was EXCEPTIONALLY kind and helpful!! We understood that late December is NOT the tourist season and many stores and restaurants were closed. But just the right number were open for us to find exactly what were looking for! THANK YOU SISSY and THANK YOU OCRACOKE for our WONDERFUL visit!! We are VERY GRATEFUL! See you again, God willing! This is a sub standard property only about 6 rooms with little to commend it other than there is not much better in town. Booking in was a nightmare. There is no one at th3 property, had to ring a number unfortunately no one answered. When I finally got an answer my payment could not be processed. ( I kept getting told that I did not live in the state that I do in fact live in. Gave up cancelled my booking and then went through Hotels.com.

The area by the water was lovely. The bed was comfortable. Did not like the fact that because we booked through a 3rd party (Expedia) we were given the smallest, darkest room. The small back window looked out at a shower and the front window was very small as well. There was no room to sit except for 1 chair. The other person had to sit on the bed. I needed to use my computer and there was no where to put it and there was no chair that I could use as the one that was there was very low. (We were told by the absent owner/manager, by telephone, that we would go and take a chair from another room. We did and i used the suitcase rack to put my computer on my closed suitcase in order to use it. I also had asked if we could move to another room that had table and chairs and was told that the motel was booked for the weekend. I checked at night and in the morning and not all of the rooms were occupied. I even took photos of the parking lot very early on our second morning. There were 2 cars in it. Something really should be done to ensure that all guests are comfortable. I would not suggest that people book through a 3rd party is they want one of their nice rooms.
