Nevado Ausangate is considered the holiest mountain in the Cusco Region of Peru. This adventure included a 2-day, 17-mile trek covering two mountain passes at 16,400 feet. The trek was one of the most strenuous hikes I’ve ever done, mostly due to the altitude, but provided some of the most rewarding views I’ve ever seen. Part of any adventure is the people and different cultures you meet along the way. The people that live in this area of the Andes lead a pastoral life, herding llamas and alpacas. Yarn spun from their alpaca wool is then hand-dyed with plants and minerals and woven to make the beautiful textiles that this area of Peru is known for. #Peru #Andes #Adventure
We woke up at 4am to climb to the top of Rainbow Mtn/Vinicunca. And we were greeted with this beautiful sunrise! Literally breathtaking, as we were at 17,000 feet or 5,200 metres! Take your time! Enjoy.

William and his family are wonderful ppl. Their place is located in the heart of Peru, and believe me when I say they have a big heart and will make sure your stay is special! His dad Filipe is an amazing cook, and his mom makes amazing souvenirs. Of course it is rustic, but this is what we came ...
