"While the place is well located and the staff are lovely, this is really a 3 star hotel. It was clean, but some aspects of the room were not “4-star” quality (scuff marks on wall, quality of the bed and sheets, etc). As other reviews have mentioned, you can feel the coils in the mattresses which can be uncomfortable. Having a kitchen + washer/dryer was very helpful for us and a big reason we booked here. Coming from a “true” 4 star aparthotel in London, this property was a little...

"Loved it and loved Edinburgh. Hope to get back. Amazing place, everything central, great vibe. The unit itself was cute and interesting. A little dark perhaps, wouldn't be ideal in cloudy winter days but this isn't uncommon it seems. The bathroom "ensuite" was in what appeared to have been an old safe. It was a little slippery getting in and out of the shower - non-slip grip tape would be useful. Also nowhere to hang towels was a nuisance. Minor setbacks overall. Everything else was great."

"Great location near the city center & close to Waverley Station. Check-in was a little bit awkward with the non-link in the email; challenging if wifi isn't working the day of, but very good communication with the staff overall. The apartment was bigger & more luxe than I anticipated, which made it a true pleasure to be there! Quiet at night in a higher floor garden apt, even being on a pretty busy road, but the whole property seemed relatively quiet in mid-October. Thanks for a wonderful stay!"

"We had a fantastic few days at Shieldhill Farmhouse with our extended family. Everything was clean and tidy and we all felt at home the minute we walked through the door. There were lots of little extra things such as toys for the children, recommendations for restaurants and takeaways, and goodies on arrival which were lovely. It's a big open farmhouse, and Scotland isn't known for it's tropical weather so we were a little chilly (even in August!) but we just popped a jumper and slippers on...

"Unfortunately, the latch to the laundry machine in our room was broken. We contacted the front desk multiple days in a row who told us maintenance would have it fixed, but it was not fixed before we had to leave. Since we booked the room to have a place to do laundry mid-trip, this was very disappointing to us."
