Host not familiar with VRBO procedures
I booked on May 8 and within an hour realized I need to modify the arrival date. The listing said free cancellation May 12. I immediately messaged the host, but didn't receive an inbox response until May 17 approving the date change. I then ask the host to change the online booking dates and charges to reflex the agreed upon shorter stay. She insisted that I had handle that with VRBO. When I reached out to VRBO, every request was automatically forwarded to the host, who remained adamant that I handle the online update. After days of calls and disconnections, I reached a VRBO representative who corrected the booking (once I got past their recommending that I reach out to the host). When I arrived at the listing, it wasn't clean. The sheets were stained and rumpled (like they had been used). The bathroom toilet and sink were soiled. I messaged that host who responded "Maaam. I don’t do knit picking. The house was cleaned. You are more than welcomed to get a hotel if it’s not up to your standards." I have been happy VRBO customer for over 30 years. This experience brought home that VRBO does not have assessable customer support if a host does not know how to use the service. This was also my first experience with a poorly cleaned unit.
