At Great Island Inn we offer modern apartments for the independent traveler in mind. Housed in a newly-renovated, 1820s home on New Castle Island, our six guest studios feature fully equipped kitchens and in-room laundry. Whether you need a home base while visiting the Portsmouth area, are in town for an extended work trip, or are doing home renovations, we invite you to experience New Castle and the Seacoast like a local!

Great little spot!

This is a wonderful property for a quick getaway or extended stay. The room was very cozy with modern and stylish decor. The galley type kitchen was well appointed. We spent time in Portsmouth. After our busy days it was a quiet comfortable place to come back to. There is a little cafe right next door with a wonderful breakfast. Doug was easy to work with and although we did not need him, we felt that he was always available. This was a relaxing worry free weekend and if given the opportunity, we would rent again!!

Perfect place

The idyllic location, impeccable process of booking and checking in, and the tastefulness of this well equipped apartment means that we will come back as often as we are able. We had a perfect time. As did our dog.

Definitely worth it!

This was an absolutely amazing stay. The neighborhood is very quiet and right next to the ocean. You can walk to the beach and lighthouse. The apartment is very cute and the sound machine was top notch. Amazing water pressure. The only negative was that the coffee pot was dirty. But aside from that I will recommend to anyone and will definitely stay here again.

Perfection!

The perfect spot in a beautiful residential seaside, neighborhood. Every detail was accounted for in the room, and clean is an understatement. We will be back to this spot for sure! Thank you for a great stay.

Cozy Weekend in New Castle

What a beautiful space! My family and I have been visiting Portsmouth/New Castle since I was born, and this was our first trip solo. The Great Island Inn was beautifully appointed and was exactly what we needed on a chilly-yet-beautiful weekend. No detail was spared, from the excellent toiletries to the comfortable bed. The staff were incredibly communicative, and check in/out was a total breeze! We are very much looking forward to visiting again in the near future.
