*Please note VRBO asked me to share my experience. Summary: Lock failure in extreme winter conditions, delayed response, and ADA violations.During my recent January stay, the outdoor electronic lock on this property failed and my friend and I were locked out at around 10:00 p.m. in -3F weather. We attempted to contact the host immediately. He was unreachable by phone for over 1.5 hours. At some point he texted, I responded immediately, and there was still a significant additional delay.Instead of immediately providing the location of the physical key, the host attempted multiple times to unlock the door remotely through his app, which failed multiple times. Only after these failed attempts, which left us exposed to extreme and dangerous winter conditions for even longer, did he finally tell me where the physical key was located.After the stay, the host attempted to penalize us for the presence of a service dog and threatened to escalate to VRBO and leave a poor review in order to force additional payment. This is not permitted. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act and VRBO policy, service animals are not pets.An unreliable lock, delayed host response, improper handling of a service animal, host retaliatory behavior, and violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act and VRBO policy make this property unsafe and noncompliant. I wouldn’t risk staying here again, especially in freezing conditions, for fear of being subjected to another serious safety incident.
