The perfect getaway secluded location with private pool and terrace.

The Stonehouse is a converted 2 bedroom detached farm house nestled in the hillside with private swimming pool and secluded south facing terrace with a panoramic view across tree tops towards Portimão, where the sea can be seen glistening on the horizon, yet is just minutes from the quaint market town of Monchique offering all the local amenities, restaurants, cafes, bars and free internet access in the internet Espacao and Library. Monchique has the added benefit of being only a 25-minute drive from the South Coast Beaches, or approximately 45 minutes from the more secluded and picturesque West Coast Beaches.
The Stonehouse offers comfort, space, character and as much seclusion as you desire. Restaurants and traditional bars are a few minutes’ drive away or make use of the stone BBQ on the terrace or fully equipped kitchen.
Entering through the kitchen to the spacious living room with dining table, 4 dining chairs, sofa, 2 armchairs, TV, Cd player & wood burning stove you can continue to enjoy the panoramic view.
Adjacent to the fully equipped kitchen which has a full electric cooker, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, Iron & board is a further bedroom which can accommodate 2 further people, either as a Double, Twin, or Single.
Downstairs is the main bedroom (5ft wide bed) & bathroom (bath with shower over bath) toilet and basin, also housing a washing machine. All ground floor windows are fitted with fly screens.
Across the terrace is a small private swimming pool, perfect for cooling off on those gloriously hot sunny days! or just relax and enjoy the view in the shade of the old olive tree.
A patio table, parasol, 4 chairs, 4 sun loungers and stone BBQ are provided. Terraced gardens with washing line. Hillside secluded location with stunning view.
Car parking space alongside of house.
For the winter months there is a log fire and oil filled radiators.
There is a weekly maid service.

Stone House Stay - Late July 2025

It was the idyllic Country House stay in the Portuguese hills with amazing views from the Lounge and Terrace that were magical. The House is very tradition giving you that feeling of an escape to another world and time. We enjoyed having a meal and wine on the terrace while looking at the amazing views and the flora that abounds. Access via the local roads is good and there is parking right next to the house and minimal local traffic passing making for a very quiet ambience. Everything you need is provided, plus amazingly well researched and presented information folders about the area, which make for great reading and tips. Monchique and nearby localities have much to offer, we stayed 4 nights and could have stayed another couple.

I left my heart in Monchique

The Stone House, lovingly owned by Mark and Sharon was a step back in time. The stone structure, while I suspect it was built many years ago still had all of the modern conveniences you would want.This well appointed home was set in the mountains and we were able to step out of modern chaos and truly relax. The gardens, the pool and the outdoor patio set the stage for a lovely glass of vhino verde and great conversation.Thank you Mark and Sharon for sharing your well-loved home with us! We will be back again if possible.

Sejour à Monchique

Points positifs : -Tres joli emplacement avec une superbe vue sur la montagne et mer. -Endroit calme. -Maison avec du caractere. -Documentations sur la region particulierement fournies. Points negatifs : -Check in sans presence physique (merci beaucoup à la dame qui nous a guide) pour 2 semaines de sejour. La 1ere fois que cela survient avec Abritel. -La chambre du 1er etage n'est pas equipee des rideaux necessaires pour une chambre à coucher. -La terrasse est en mauvais etat : transats en mauvais etat,eclairage manquant pour diner dehors. -La piscine ne permet pas de nager; c'est un bassin.

A lovely villa with a pool, situated in a tranquil location offering stunning panoramic views. While the house is charming, it could benefit from some furniture renovations, especially in the bedrooms, and the addition of air conditioning for the summer months.

Melhor sitio para descansar

Adoramos a casa e a localidade, se o que precisavamos era estar isolados da vida de cidade, este foi sem duvida o sitio melhor que encontramos. A casa não tivemos grandes surpresas uma vez que as fotografias fazem jus a aquilo que é. O caminho é um bocadinho difícil de se fazer a noite pois não o conheciamos e por isso e algo assustador. Excellent holiday property

This is a great property as described - the location is very peaceful and overlooks the hills down to the coastline. Has all facilities and equipment needed, whether it's a quiet stay or active holiday. Pool is plenty big enough for a quick cool down and the outside area is very useful. Monchique is close enough for a 10 minute taxi ride with several restaurants. We walked to a pizza place (around 20 minutes) but make sure it's before sunset! Highly recommended to stay here.

Foi uma passagem breve mas acertada. A localização da Stonehouse é encantadora. Tudo correu como esperado e até superou as expectativas. Casa limpa, espaços amplos, acessos fáceis (ainda que peculiares), silêncio, boa vizinhança (imperceptível), e uma “piscina” com a dimensão correcta. Fica a vontade de repetir! Gostei Muito

Casa muito agradável num sitio bonito e sossegado. Tem uma vista deslumbrante sobre a costa de Portimão e um céu nocturno ao mesmo nível em que, por ausência de poluição luminosa, se vislumbra a via láctea. Apenas senti falta de uma luz mais forte no quintal que permita refeições nocturnas e auxilie na churrasqueira. O bonito quintal, por ter muitos vasos com plantas (para além da maravilhosa oliveira), apresentava-se com muitas folhas caídas no chão e merecia outra apresentação. Nada que não tivesse ficado resolvido com uma boa mangueirada. Uma atenção especial aos sobreiros queimados por cima da piscina pois, num dia de um pouco mais vento, partiu-se um ramo que caiu dentro da piscina, onde não estava ninguém, por sorte. Deveriam abater todas as arvores queimadas que estão naquela encosta.

Quiet and peaceful

The property was exactly as described so there were no unexpected surprises. The property was in quiet peaceful location on a hillside with great views over the countryside all the way to the coast. The kitchen was well appointed with plenty of utensils. The pool was not large but was ideal and very welcome to cool off in during the day. Even the the house seemed remote the village of Monichique was only 10 minutes drive where there is a supermarket which has everything you need for you stay.There are restaurants and here too. Communications withe Mark and Sharon were fast and responsive.

The Stonehouse

What a fantastic place to get away from everyday life & enjoy the peace & beautiful setting that the Stonehouse offers. Very well equipped with everything you need & spotlessly clean. Ana Paula who lives locally takes great pride in the upkeep of both interior & outside on the patio terrace. The directions we received from Mark & Sharon were easily followed & accurate. Definitely would like to revisit with a huge thank you to Mark &Sharon & of course to the lovely Ana Paula who is fantastic

Interessantes Haus

Das Haus hat ein gewisses Flair! Leider ist die Küche etwas in die Jahre gekommen und einige Vorurlauber halten es mit der Sauberkeit nicht so ernst. Vielleicht hätte auch nach der Winterruhe mal eine Komplettreinigung der Küche durchgeführt werden müssen. Die anderen Räume sind in Ordnung. Der auf den Bildern noch groß da stehende Olivenbaum ist leider stark zurück geschnitten wurden, (Waldbrand 2018?) und man hat nicht mehr sehr viel Schatten. Die Matrazen sind fest, wir haben sehr gut geschlafen. Alles andere ist nach portugisischen Verhältnissen sehr ordentlich. Das Haus ist für ein Paar, auch mit 2 Kindern, empfehlenswert. Man sollte aber die Abgeschiedenheit lieben! Uns hat es gut gefallen.
