"Very tired old property. When they showed us the room it first reminded me of one of the servant quarters in a recent historic house tour. We booked a classic double.
The room was damp, full of dusty furniture and the bed mattress springs were gone. There was a tiny window with a view to nothing.
We lasted 10 mins and left.
The manager gave us lots of options, one being the same room type and the other being the front door with just an apology and no refund offered.

"Managed to book the last room available a twin with plenty of room and comfortable beds. Said own bathroom but was across the public hallway. At check in was not advised to turn power to bathroom was a switch outside in public hallway. Not great when already stripped off. Eventually worked it out.
Breakfast was great with outlook over country side."

"We stayed in one of the Bear Huts. Although I'd seen the photo, I did not think it was going to be as cramped inside as it was. It's certainly not big enough for two people. The large and very comfy bed was fitted over storage space and was so high up my husband had to help me up onto it in a very ungainly manner. Definitely needs a step up of some sort.
All the storage units had noisy bolt lock fastenings.
Getting the boiler working for hot water in the shower was a work of art.

"We had seen mixed reviews about other people's stays and were a bit apprehensive about what to expect. We could NOT have had a more fantastic stay. Staff were extremely attentive and welcoming especially Veejay( the manager), Gary, Anne and Nadine. We are a family of 6 ( 3 adult couples) and it was the perfect highland base for exploring the area. Food was fresh and was made from scratch. Leave time for leisurely meals. "Great castle stay. You can wander around the property and get a look at the other rooms of the castle. Free easy on-site parking. Staff was great. Little pub in the basement with walk-out garden seating to have a beverage. As with it being an old castle, it has and old charm and fun to explore. "The room was spacious and very nice, the bed was comfortable and we loved the coffee and tea station. We ate at the restaurant several times and they were always understaffed. The staff that were there were working very hard, but there were just too few. We waited at the hostess station for over 10 minutes before someone was able to seat us, then it took forever to order and get our food. The quality of the food was very average. But the location of the hotel was perfect for our activities."
