Central Blue Door....Newly Renovated Historic Midtown Cottage

I am a local contractor and designer who has taken this 1920's cottage and taken it down to the studs to bring it back to 2017 standards for comfort and style. I have removed walls and vaulted ceilings making this a very light filled space with a open floor plan. The kitchen/great room is approximately 500 ft.² which provides breakfast bar, dining table for four and comfortable seating for five. 55" TV provided in den and 40" TV in the bedroom.

The kitchen is equipped with refrigerator, freezer, microwave vent hood, and electric stove/oven. Enjoy complimentary snack basket and Keurig coffee maker. Island provides for 2 bar stools. Cupboard is full of glasses, mugs, cookware, silverware and a multitude of pots and pans to make cooking easy and convenient during your stay.

The bedroom includes a queen size bed, fine linens, down comforter, and three large closets. Large bath with tub/shower, 4 foot vanity and even a heated towel rack. Shampoo,Conditioner and Body Wash provided in shower dispenser.

Additional sleeping for 2 provided with a queen pullout sofa. A brand-new 4 inch memory foam mattress has been installed , making it very comfortable. A stack washer dryer and all needed items for use are provided for you in a hall closet. Cable, High Speed Internet and Wi-Fi is available free of charge.

Guest access

Everything is yours to use except for one locked owner's closet. One car parking is provided in front of the unit. Please note driveway is tight and this space is meant for a standard size car. Anything larger should park on the side street and walk up the steps to cottage.

Access code for entry will be provided the day before your check in. There is no hassle of meeting someone or waiting for keys. When you arrive at the cottage you will be able to seamlessly check in by typing in a four digit code.

My goal is to make your stay as comfortable as possible.I live in the neighborhood and can provide what every help you need. Only a phone call away.

The neighborhood

The cottage is located in the historical district of Central Gardens in Midtown Memphis. The location is ideal for being centrally located between downtown, Graceland and East Memphis. Situated between the Cooper Young entertainment district and the Overton Square entertainment district. 20+ restaurants and entertainment venues to choose from. No more than a 15 minute drive to Graceland or downtown activities. The world renowned Memphis zoo and Overton Park, Brooks Museum are less than a five minute drive. So much to offer !!

This is a separate guest cottage behind someone’s house in Midtown Memphis. The location is convenient if you need to be in Midtown or downtown. The host was pleasant and communicated well. Otherwise, the unit was in need of attention. The air conditioner did not work and only blew out warm air all night. I couldn’t get the temperature to drop a single degree all night, and it remained very stuffy and difficult to sleep. When I went to try and open the windows to get air to circulate, I found that they were painted shut in the master bedroom. I was so uncomfortable sleeping there that first night that I actually left and got a hotel for my second night in town. I don’t believe the unit had likely been used in some time as when I turned the water on in the bathroom it was a pretty long run of brown, dirty water mixed with air before clear water began to run. the shower and bathtub is old and rusted. Don’t think I would stay here again.

Blue Door- excellent with no issues. Has all the amenities needed for a business stay. Nice to have coffee and bfast relaxing before the work day. Property clean, good wifi, full kitchen w/ all accessories needed. I do recommend.

Check in was seamless. Cottage was just perfect for the 2 of us. Bed was very comfy and linens were hotel grade. Plenty of storage for the weekend. Will definitely stay again when we come to Memphis.

Nice place in quiet neighborhood

My second time staying here. I like that it is in a residential neighborhood, so quiet and safe. But still an easy drive/Uber to many restaurants, downtown, zoo. etc. Full kitchen and very comfortable. The owner was very responsive to an issue that came up the first time I stayed here.

Great location and wonderful place to stay!

The blue cottage is so close to everything in the hip Cooper-Young district and not too far from downtown Memphis either! We took the bus or Uber to most of the sites and there is way too many good food places locally or downtown! Tru to got all the places on the bathroom artwork!

Cozy, quiet, cute house!

The house was just as described. It was a short drive to Graceland and Beale Street. The house is clean, nicely decorated, and had everything we needed for our stay. Ben was responsive to any questions I had, and neighborhood seems safe. We would definitely stay there again.
