"This hotel is a basic budget hotel with an artsy flair. The rooms had no refrigerators, no in-room safes, no extra blankets, and no tissues! (Just toilet paper.) The shower looked nice, but did not have an actual shower door, so water got EVERYWHERE in the bathroom. The bed was uncomfortable, and the sheets were scratchy. "Nice place. A little cramped for five of us but good value for the money spent. Washer worked but dryer didn't. We ended up having clothes stuck in there for a long time overnight and in the morning when we rsna the dryer a few times. Checkout is at 1000am so at 1024 they knocked saying we need to leave. That's on us but I don't think I've ever gotten a knock before. He gave us til 1107am since wet clothes were still and in the dryer for multiple hours. They still didn't dry so we had to...

"Overall, this was a great stay. Next time however, I would not stay on the Royal Mile. We learned that this is an extremely busy and very loud street in the heart of the tourist District. Not only is it right across the street from a very large church with loud bells that continue to ring into the night… The bars open up with many people still strolling down the streets at one or two in the morning. "The staff were friendly. The location is central, close to the Waverley train station and walking distance to so many things. The kitchen was well equipped. The laundry was convenient, although the machines are a little touchy and take forever to do a load. The apartment was nice and clean. The bed was a little hard however that is a personal preference. Our room had a nice interior view of the gardens and was quiet. Overall a great home base while in Edinburgh."
