Only 5kms from Healesville, Minkara offers peaceful surrounds only minutes away from the finest restaurants, cafes, wineries and some of Victoria's largest tourist attractions.


Minkara Homestay is a self-contained studio style setup in the idyllic Yarra Valley in Victoria, offering comfortable accommodation close to Healesville and its popular wineries, restaurants and cafes, National Parks, Healesville Sanctuary, RACV Club, Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery and racetracks. Minkara offers stylish open plan living with a fully equipped kitchen, a double bath designed for 2, and breathtaking views on 10 acres.

An ideal romantic getaway or a place to relax, Minkara Homestay is LGBTI friendly.

We are NOT a bed and breakfast so we don't provide food (there is tea and coffee). We do however provide a fully equipped kitchen including oven, stove, microwave and dishwasher. The local supermarket (Coles) is open til midnight and Aldi which is open until 8.30pm Monday to Friday. There is an organic farmers market on every Saturday morning until 1pm, or just head down into Healesville and enjoy some of the fantastic local cafe's and restaurants.

The cabin is heated by a full size Coonara wood heater as well as a split system. Please ask for assistance if you do not know how to light the fire. There is a ceiling fan and air conditioning for relief in the hot weather.

There are loads of bicycle and walking tracks nearby. BYO bikes. You can laze around our property and admire the scenery and wildlife, including kangaroos, echidnas, native birds and our horses.

We have adequate paddocks for you to bring a couple of horses. Horse riding is straight out from the property along the road, or you can float to the beginning of the Bicentennial Trail which is only 8kms away.

Perfect step away from everything!

It was the perfect place to step away from everything and just sit back and enjoy the moment. I would go back in a heartbeat! The cabin had everything that I needed to have a glass of red and dinner - a roaring fireplace that kept me toasty all night and morning, friendly dog, cool horses, cute bunnies and an amazing kangaroo mob. Bed is very comfortable - I just sank into it that night. Kitchen is just enough, with a dining table, inside and outside. Directions were spot-on accurate, and easy to follow for access to the site. The view is spectacular. Complete privacy and that unenviably feeling of space. No noise, no interruptions. Thanks so much Kerrie for being such as amazing host and for being so welcoming and caring!

Lovely little cottage

We had a lovely stay with 3 of us at this cottage. The fire was going when we arrived and the place was warm and welcoming. Beautiful farm setting and easy communication with the host. Would love to stay again

Great place to stay

The property was beutiful alovely place to chill out however when we booked we asked for two single beds or one double and a single because we were brother and sister not husband and wife but we manedged by using the sofa and the extra beding so it was fine

Clean and neat cottage in a quiet location

Single room open plan cottage on a small property with a tree lined creek and kangaroos over the fence. Owners house nearby, but we rarely saw them. Close to Healesville if you want to eat out, but kitchen was fully functional if you want to cook for yourself (although worn symbols on oven made it a little tricky). It was cold when we were there, but wood fire and R/C arcon was fine to keep it warm. Room was spotless.

A peaceful country cabin with beautiful views

I had an wonderful 3-night getaway at Minkara. It was exactly what I needed (quiet and privacy) and I'd love to stay there again. The comfortable, fully equipped cabin allows 360 degree views of the surrounding wooded hills. My nearest neighbours (apart from the owners, who never intruded on my stay) were kangaroos, horses and rabbits. And it has a great bathtub which avid bathers will appreciate.

Beautiful setting. Close to Healesville. Facilities in the property were very good. Excellent new bathroom. The microwave oven developed fault and stopped working a couple of times until it cooled. The owner was quick to respond but it does need replacing. Recommended!

Great little romantic weekend get away !

The property is super cute, surrounded by Horses, Kangaroos and great views. The fireplace kept the place well heated and the bath tub was great!.
