Come explore the Redwoods, soak in the hot tub, relax on the wrap around covered porch, gaze out to the distant sea, cozy up by the fire pit, feed the Goldfish in the backyard pond and listen to the waterfalls. This 2500 square foot home is a haven for the soul inside and out. Perfect getaway for nature lovers, couples and families with older children! Garden Pond Retreat sits right above a forested coastal trail complete with a bridge and creek. This trail offers a short walk to the Mad River with views beyond to the ocean. Vaulted ceilings and plenty of windows invite the garden and seaside views inside.

On the main level guests will enjoy gleaming hardwood floors, a well appointed living room w/ large T.V., dining room with seating for 6 and a fabulous open and connected kitchen- family room made cozy by a gas fireplace. Enjoy playing games by the fire with over 20 fun board games to choose from! Cooks will love preparing meals in the spacious, fully stocked kitchen complete with a large island and breakfast bar. The family room even includes a desk for guests needing to work while traveling. There is a half bath on this level. Upstairs are 3 spacious bedrooms. The Main bedroom has distant ocean views, offers a King bed and attached bathroom with a large oval bathtub and separate shower. The second bedroom overlooks the incredible gardens, pond and wooded vistas below. It also has a King bed and a whimsical, relaxing hammock chair. The third bedroom has a king bed and a small t.v. for DVD's only. This bedroom also has gorgeous garden & wooded views. The 2nd upstairs bathroom has a combination tub/shower. All of the bedrooms upstairs are carpeted adding to the comfort and warmth of this house.

This home is filled with class and style. Each room is decorated with one of a kind artwork. Centrally located in Mckinleyville, Garden Pond Retreat is just 10 minutes to the bustling college town of Arcata and 10 minutes from the seaside village of Trinidad, and less than 2 miles from the local Airport. Just footsteps from the 5-plus mile hiking/biking/equestrian section of the California Coastal Hammond Trail that stretches from the Arcata Bottoms northward to Clam Beach County Park in McKinleyville. The trail has been voted "best place to walk, jog, or bike" in Humboldt County. If you want to take a bike ride in Humboldt County, this is the place!

Such an inviting, relaxing, and wonderful place.

The home is very roomy. Very welcoming decor. Beautiful grounds, pond. Couldn't have been nicer. Everything was very clean.

This was a beautiful property in a great location. Very clean and well stocked kitchen. We had great communication throughout the process. The grounds were so pretty and it was just a relaxing home to be in. There was a great walking path nearby with wonderful views of the ocean. I would highly recommend this location.

We had the most marvelous time at this house! The house was beautiful, and very clean and tidy. The amenities were plentiful and incredible to use! Thank you so much for letting us stay at your house! It was perfect for the bridal party to stay at for a beautiful weekend wedding. The beds are also incredibly comfortable and the beds are huge! AMAZING!

My husband plans to give a more thorough review later, but in 20 years of using VRBO-and we use it 1-3/year-this is the absolute best! Super clean, comfortable, the most amazing landscaping, great hot tub, and they had EVERYTHING you will need! We could stay here for months! The only thing missing was our other daughter who couldn’t be with us.

Beautiful house with ocean views

This was the perfect place for a multigenerational vacation. The garden was magical, our 5 year old loved feeding the fish in the pond, squeezing the snapdragon flowers and roasting marshmallows over the fire pit. The adults enjoyed the hot tub and the gourmet kitchen. This is not a place you need to bring cooking gear, the knives are sharp. If you do some wine tasting while you're in town there is also a wine fridge. We'd definitely stay again in the future.

Very quiet, cozy and extremely comfortable beds.

This vacation property is close to everything along the coast and quick shopping trips too. The trails along Mad River are beautiful, safe and allows for every level of walking interests If you have a larger family as we do and need max amount of privacy as well, this home will suite these needs perfectly. We enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub, sharing quiet conversations around the little fire pit and porches. Overall we enjoyed our stay very much.

Redwoods vacation

I would have given this property a solid 5 stars, however, we encountered some issues that prevent that. Everything else was great: location, roominess, prettiest house in the neighborhood, comfort, etc. So why am I rating it 4 stars? Contract trash personnel apparently open the roll-up garage door to get the trash cans. We found the garage door open each time (3) we came home after being gone all day. Since we were told to leave the door open between the garage and the house, that means anyone off the street could have gone into the house while we were gone, and there are homeless people around the city and the walking trails not too far away. We called the management company to tell them about the garage door issue, but nothing changed. This did not make us feel very secure about staying there. The other thing is that the freezer part of the refrigerator was going out and would not make ice or keep our frozen food frozen. We ended up throwing some of our food out because of this. We told the management company about this too but there was nothing they could do about it while we were staying there. So, two disappointments in an otherwise very pleasant experience.

Lovely and comfortable!

We had a wonderful time at this property! It was luxurious with king beds for everyone, a fully stocked kitchen and beautiful back yard. The only concern was that the outside irrigation (for the backyard garden) sounded like it was leaking one night...hopefully it was able to be fixed! Thank you.

Relaxing home away from home!

This home was the perfect stay for our vacation to the Redwood national and state parks. The listing was on-pointe and the location was just right. Backyard was serene and we even saw some elk and herons. The house was stocked with everything one would need for a week (except for oil, salt, and sugar - which you could get at the grocery stores nearby along with your groceries) and the appliances were high end, which we greatly appreciated. The family photos and different art work all around the house were a nice homey touch and gave a lovely lived-in and loved feel to the home. Neighborhood was quiet and safe. We would highly recommend this place to anyone and will certainly stay here again should we ever be back to this part of the country.

Wonderful Home

House and property were as advertised and quite beautiful. We enjoyed the heron and ducks that landed in the pond. The kitchen was fully stocked with utensils and cookware. The bedrooms very nice with great views. If the opportunity occurs, I would stay here in the future.

Beautiful home near beach

We stayed in this lovely property with an exquisite garden and fish pond. We were all over 70 and enjoyed walking the trail through the wooded area and adjacent to the beach. The property has everything you can possibly need if you are a cook or bbq er. The bedrooms are very comfortable with good quality bedding and towels. We had no children with us but noticed many touches for them such as a coloring table and a step stool in the powder room so they could access the sink. We would definitely book this property again. The instructions were perfect and I was even able to bring Alexa with us to time our cooking and provide music. No trouble with the internet either. My phone, an iphone worked immediately. Thanks for a great sister reunion!!

McKinleyville Hideway

This home was so wonderful to stay at. The kitchen was lovely and stocked with everything we could ask for. The furnishings throughout the house were so comfortable and lovely and the decor was interesting and tasteful as well. The landscaping was beyond gorgeous with an array of colors and textures that surrounded the beautiful pond. The jacuzzi and fire pit were the icing on the cake for us and we were lucky to get to spend a few days to recalibrate ourselves!

Awesome, Quiet getaway

All around great. House was big, roomy, equipped with all you could ask for. Back yard was beautiful and the kids loved the koi pond. Jacuzzi was our nightly routine as the cloud covered the tops of the trees at night. Perfect quiet neighborhood, could see the ocean out of most of the windows. Walking path was fun but the beach portion wasn't for us. Wasn't any sand for the kids to play in and the sea foam along the coast wasn't enticing. However, 5min up the 10 and your at Clam beach.. Host / Hostess were extremely quick in their responses. The whole process was easy and guide / instruction folder was a nice touch to meet the expectations of the rental owners. Wish we had more time their honestly. Absolutely loved our stay there and would do it again many times if it's still there. FYI they had toys and activity center for the kids which was an awesome touch.

Peaceful and serene

The house and yard are beautiful, and perhaps the quietest stay I’ve ever had at a vacation rental. You can hear the distant ocean waves from the master bedroom and living room. The home is less than a block away from the Hammond Coastal Trail, which we used every day. Very convenient to 101. About 10 to 20 minutes to almost anywhere we wanted to explore. Property manager was easy to communicate with and flexible with our needs. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

A Relaxing Getaway

We had a wonderful time at the Garden Pond Retreat. It is conveniently located between the Avenue of the Giants and Redwood National Forest, which were the two areas we visited. The neighborhood was safe and quiet, and the house itself was well appointed with a full kitchen, extra towels, and comfy beds. The garden was quite beautiful with unique landscaping and a pond where the kids enjoyed feeding the goldfish. We enjoyed our stay here!

Amazing property!!

This property is perfect in so many ways! The location is perfect, the house and gardens are absolutely beautiful, and the deck and hot tub are a wonderful addition!! The kitchen is appointed with everything and more that you need to prepare meals. The house is so clean, and had so many charming touches to make the stay so special. My family is hoping to stay at this amazing property again in the near future!
