ESCAPE TO THE COUNTRY AT HUNTER RIVER RETREAT.

If your looking to leave the city behind and unwind on the deck of your own private rustic cottage with stunning views, to sit back and sip a glass of fine Hunter Valley wine and do nothing but soak up the peace and serenity.

Perhaps a picnic on the mountain with a loved one, bush walking on our many trails, spotting local wildlife including our kangaroos and wallabies or feeding our farm animals interest you, then picturesque Hunter River Retreat is for you.

Hunter River Retreat is situated on 110 acres and approx. 2 hrs from Sydney, 15 minutes from Maitland, with boutique wineries close by and the main Hunter Valley wineries approx. 30 minutes away. Full Day Bus Winery Tours can also be organized that pick up from The Retreat - you can taste and not worry about driving.

Goanna Lodge is a private fully self-contained cabin with a huge deck, gourmet BBQ and stunning views which makes entertaining or a family get togethers on the deck a must.

The Goanna lodge has 3 bedrooms, the main bedroom featuring a queen bed, and a glass sliding door leading to the third bedroom, will be loved by the children and features a double bed and a loft bed above, along with a tv and dvd player.

Farm Stay

We loved staying at Hunter Valley Retreat, kids and adult both enjoyed being so close to animals and feeding them. Eloise is a very warm and welcoming host and we all loved how much time she takes out to ensure you get close to animals. Its a beautiful spot

Great location, quiet place and a beautiful vintage style cottage

Overall we had a fantastic experience, the place was very cosy, comfortable and beautiful. The host also very responsive and helpful as we lost the power and they had fixed it with less than 5 minutes. Price wise was also reasonably cheap for the long weekend stay.

Great stay

Great short stay. The house has everything you need. Kitchen essentials needs to be upgraded and cleanliness of property was poor. Overall had a good stay with my husband and 5 kids. Very remote and private property which we loved.

Amazing location and perfect for a retrest

Communication from Eloise was great from booking date to end of the stay. The property was clean and in a great location, the retreat is a great place to stay to escape the city and enjoy nature. The facilities were amazing and we had no issues with our stay. Thank you Eloise! xx

Great spot for a chill weekend away!

Had a great weekend away at the Hunter River Retreat. The hosts were amazing with their communications and put us in touch with great options for wine tours in the region. Would definitely stay again!

A lovely spot

We had a lovely stay at the cabins, prompt response from our host Eloise and anything we needed was shortly made available. Very peaceful Surroundings and the animals were so sweet! We loved it.

Great stay and service

Eloise and Troy were the best hosts you could ask for. We had a blackout and within 20mins, they were able to get it fixed and the house was up running. The most gorgeous cabin to stay in with great facilities and not too far from the wineries either. Definitely recommending this to all my friends!
