"The Beach Hotel is a social enterprise run by the YMCA as an apprenticeship scheme. In light of this we had quite modest expectations for our stay. But these were misplaced - the hotel is spotlessly clean, and run by professional, welcoming staff. "Absolutely great place to stay if you're in Ilfracombe. Backs onto the very pretty harbour area, really good value breakfast and the pub is friendly, great beers but not noisy at all. Our room got a little warm and the mgt instantly upgraded us to a two-room suite opposite and the general service and friendliness of the team who manage the Royal Britannia would be a major reason for going back as well as the beautiful spots immediately around the hotel. "I stood at this family guesthouse for four nights when travelling on business in the area during May-June. The rooms are all upstairs, tidy neat, well-lighted and nicely decorated. You enter by their restaurant which, by the way, has very tasty seafood platters every day made by chef Steve, who also prepares an excellent English breakfast every morning. Although there appears to be no A/C, only heater, it's not needed because you are right next to the bay which provided very comfortable weather,...

Doesn’t bother me- but would be disturbing for a light sleeper. However- Ilfracombe is a sleepy Devon town so there is no noise after pubs shut or before 6am"

"Zentral gelegene Unterkunft mit sehr gutem Frühstück. Unser Zimmer lag im zweiten Stock mit etwas Aussicht auf den Hafen. Badewanne im Zimmer ist vielleicht cool, aber nicht sehr praktisch. Ansonsten aber alles sehr bequem und geräumig."
