Large Log Cabin Near Luray Shenandoah National Park Mountain View up to 30 GUEST

Nestled in the Shenandoah Valley near Luray and the Shenandoah National Park, Hawksbill Retreat Lodge is the largest rental cabin at Hawksbill Retreat, housing up to 30 guests. Containing 10 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms within its two levels, the Lodge is perfect for large family gatherings. The Lodge provides a king suite with fireplace and garden tub, two queen suites with fireplaces, two bedrooms with two full beds each, three additional bedrooms with a queen bed in each, one bedroom with two queen beds and one bedroom with a king bed that offers a shower with 5 body jets. All bedrooms are decorated in a style consistent with a mountain cabin getaway and flat screen TVs. 2 full sleeper sofas (1 in the living room and 1 in the game room). There is a full kitchen with upgraded appliances, hardwood floors throughout, a game room with a Pool Table and an Air Hockey Table and a dining table that seats 20. The great room has a stone fireplace and large flat screen TV with an open floor design to provide comfortable seating and adequate visiting space. There is a wrap-around, covered porch around the entire cabin with plenty of outdoor seating, mountain views in every direction, a 7 person Hot Tub, an outdoor Fire Pit and an additional large deck with additional seating. All beds are based on double occupancy.

All guests at Hawksbill Retreat may enjoy the 45 acre property that is conveniently located, within minutes of shopping and major attractions such as Luray Caverns, the Shenandoah River, and the Shenandoah National Park . The property is only minutes from Luray, Va in the foothills of the Shenandoah National Park, which can be easily accessed, and it is less than 30 minutes from Massanutten Ski Resort and only 45 minutes from Bryce Resort. Across the street from Hawksbill Retreat is a municipal park with a seasonal Olympic-size swimming pool and plenty to do for kids. On site there are over two miles of accessible walking trails, 2 Gazebos, a stocked 1 acre fishing pond and 45 acres of space to explore.

every thing about this place was great. we had 12 adults. all had rooms except 4 shared. enough bathrooms. great kitchen and eating area. we played golf every day and the evenings had baseball, football on the tv. hot tub was enjoyed every evening for the old men to loosen muscles. a bonfire on the last night. getting in and out of the gate was easy. stars we never see anymore. misty sunrises. just wonderful. my golf game should be as good. love to stay again sometime.

The owner was friendly and easy to get along with. Quiet place and plenty of room for everyone to have their space. Game room kept the young adults busy and the large table was great for meals and playing games.

We chose this home as our daughter wanted her family and bridal party to be all together in one house for her wedding weekend. The wedding venue was in Luray and this house was approx 20 min away and fit the bill. The house is spacious and the air hockey and pool table were big hit with our younger crowd, as did the fishing pond across from the house. 6 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms are on the main level, and 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms are on lower level. Kitchen chairs could benefit from some felt pads under legs to keep sliding noise down on tile kitchen floor, as this can be heard in lower level bedrooms. This is only an issue when not everyone goes to bed at same time. Property manager was quick to respond when we needed to know more details on size of refrigerators. Earlier reviews had mentioned lack of adequate refrigeration for size of house, but there are 2 new large refrigerators in the kitchen. Besides booking through VRBO, this property requires an additional rental agreement, which has a lot of do not’s and threatens of immediate eviction if certain rules are broken. I understand the need for making sure people treat the home with care and respect but it made us feel like we were walking on eggshells at times. Overall the house was a perfect fit for our situation.

Great place for a large group and we had a wonderful time. Property is in general very well kept. Images in listing do not reveal how close the lodge is to other buildings which initially disappointed us but turned out to be no problem. Plenty of lawn to play on. The negatives include, roaches in the kitchen and no sound proofing in the walls. Despite these issues we had a wonderful, family time! All 21 of us agreed we would return.

The house was very nice, clean and appropriate for our group. We initially thought the house would be a bit bigger but it worked out perfectly. The neighborhood was very peaceful, easy to get to and not too far from various shops located within 5-10 miles of the house. The host were communicative and assisted us when needed. Would definitely recommend and visit again if we decide to come back to the area.

We had an absolutely amazing time at the Hawksbill Lodge!! The house was amazing and so big!! It fit our crew of 28 so good! The atmosphere was perfect! A wonderful fire pit, hot tub, game room! The master suite downstairs was too notch!! The kitchen and living area was huge and perfect for our big crew! We throughly enjoyed our stay and we all agreed to book again for next year immediately!!! Thank you so much to the wonderful hosts!!!

We rented the property because it was very near the wedding venue for my daughter. I rented through VRBO & also purchased the additional damage protection. The owner (Misty) insisted I fill out another Lease agreement, with my CC information. She insisted that they would not share the rental information with me until that happened. I made her aware that I purchased the additional protection, and she said that because of that I didn't need to leave additional CC information with her. However, she never asked if I had purchased that protection, she was rude and interruptive as I tried to ask additional questions. While the property was fine for our purposes and we followed the excessive instructions to the letter, I will not be using this property again, and will not recommend it to others. Frankly, she had me very concerned that I might see additional charges, however as of this writing, that hasn’t occurred.

It's a lovely lodge and ideal for a large group of adults/families. As generally noted in the comments, the fridge is way too small for the size of the lodge. There really does need to be a second fridge. We knew this going in and had coolers and ice packs/ice with us. But this truly should be something that is fixed by the owners so that this stops being the problem it is for so many. What we were not expecting were - a dishwasher that is NOT fixed down to the floor/cabinets and is practically falling over every time you open it. And spilling plates and cutlery everywhere. This is just basic installation! - a stove that had didn't have a range out that vented to the exterior - but to the interior! Part of the whole fun for our gathering was to cook communal meals together. What was NOT fun was to have the entire upper floor then smelling of cooking because the extraction fan was so woefully underpowered AND not vented to the outside. A larger stove to go along with the total occupancy size would also be good. When it can sleep 30 and you're cooking for that party size, and paying for a property this size, having the basic appliances (fridge, stove) that meet the intended use and purpose of the lodge should just be a given. But it's not.

This is a good property for our large family of 20. We loved the kitchen especially the long dining table where we could all sit together to eat. The property does need some upgrading however. Several of the bathrooms need immediate attention. Otherwise we were very happy with the property and would recommend it to others.

We had a delightful family weekend with plenty of room for 13 adults & teenagers. The bedrooms & baths are nicely spaced between areas in the lodge & the great room/kitchen is large enough for all to gather. The wrap around porch is huge and we do recommend bringing soccer chairs if you have a large group. The firepit is perfect for the obligitory s'mores . I
