Wavesong Cottage: Perched on Lake Michigan between Ludington and Manistee

Wavesong Cottage has been in our family since it was built in 1994. The master suite was added in 2006. Nestled in the Manistee National Forest right on Lake Michigan, it is a spacious cottage with high ceilings and a spectacular view that just swallows you up in its beauty. Come and enjoy the multi-tiered deck which is a great place to hang out and have a few drinks, play a game, or experience the most spectacular sunsets you have ever seen. Spend time connecting with family around the fire pit or play a game of corn hole while listening to the waves crash on the beach. Private stairs (68 steps) lead you down to our private beach. Spend the day exploring nearby Manistee and stroll down the boardwalk along the water or take in the local farmer's market. If you're interested in golf, Manistee National and Manistee Country Club are only 10 minutes away while Arcadia Bluffs Golf Club is only 45 minutes away.
Cuddle up in the massive Master Suite and wash off the sand in the spacious walk-in dual headed tile shower, have your morning coffee outside the sliding glass door with a perfect view of the lake. Enjoy the open floor plan with friends and family while everyone is gathered around the fireplace to take in a delicious meal made in the newly remodeled kitchen. It is a comfortable and airy space to get away from it all!

June 2025 Vacation

The Wavesong Cottage is a beautiful home with a fabulous view of lake from inside and out. Very well stocked, with comfortable bedding and linens, paper & cleaning products, and gas grill for cooking. While there is no oven, there is a large toaster oven. Guest should be aware the cottage sits approximately 7 stories up stairs from the beach. Overall, it was a great cottage for our family vacation!

Much needed break

This place was perfect. My sister and I needed a getaway of peace and quiet and Wavesong was the perfect place. The beach was awesome and relaxing on the deck was great after a day on the beach. There was everything you would need in the house. I would definitely stay here again.

Loved this vacation rental!

Loved this vacation rental! The beach is fantastic, while there was a smattering of stones at waters edge, after a couple short steps it is all sand as deep as you can walk in the water. Chairs were provided both on the beach and in the yard so no need to move furniture down the bluff stairs. Everything was provided for a fire; wood, lighter, fire tongs, even marshmallow roasting sticks! The grill has propane hard wired into it, so no need to worry about a tank going empty on you. The hammock is in the most perfect spot to enjoy the breeze coming off the water or relax next to the fire. They have truly thought of everything you might need or want to enjoy a perfect out door afternoon on the most beautiful lake in the world. The house was also very modern and comfortable, perfect for gathering with friends or family. We enjoyed many games around the dining room table while we waited for the sunset each night. The true joy of a vacation like this is spending quality time with your loved ones and with everything provided at this rental you are setup perfectly to maximize that time in comfort and luxury.

Wonderful cottage

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The place was spotless!!! The view and sunsets were gorgeous. I loved relaxing in the hammock. Master bedroom is beautiful. Would stay there again.

Lovely property!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Wavesong. As noted, everything was clean. Kitchen well stocked with dishes and cooking items/pots & pans. Plenty of nice towels was very much appreciated. Note that cell service is very spotty but wifi connectivity was good. Remember to write down the door code and wifi password before arriving - I didn’t and had to drive back out to a main road to get a connection and access the letter from the host, Julie. Lesson learned! Thank you for providing such an awesome home!

Local wannabe

Beautiful home, gorgeous view, perfect set up for families. Couldnt have asked for more! Well, except for TP, I could have asked for more of that. Thankfully, I had the foresight to bring extra TP and Paper Towel. :) Bring extra TP and PT! I loved how everything is labeled so the "stress" of finding things in an unfamiliar place was reduced!! Kudos to the homeowner on that!!

First time to mason county

The internet/WiFi was nill to none. Would not plan to work at this one. It won’t happen. Cells phones don’t work either so plan to disconnect at this stay. Beautiful home, on Lake Michigan (view is amazing) close to downtown Manistee. Great vacation. Thank you for this one

Family Christmas in August

Rather than do Christmas gifts last year we decided as a family to do a get away in the summer instead. We are so glad we chose Wavesong as our destination. Great place with a great view of Lake Michigan. Sunsets were gorgeous. The place is spotless and has everything you need. As others have stated, service for cell phones in the area is very weak. However, the place has WIFI so you can text and have email. No phone calls but face time works. Great stay!

Beautiful house and location

We had a great stay. The steps to the beach are not a problem at all. I was worried about them but my 6 and 8 year old didn't have an issue with them. This is one of the nicer rentals I have stayed at over the years.

Absolutely stunning

I can’t think of any better way to end an evening than to watch the sun set over the water. Spent time wandering the beaches searching for Petosky stones and just enjoying the lake. The weather could not have been better. A definite must stay location if you are thinking of a vacation on Lake Michigan.

Peaceful and calm

We enjoyed our stay at Wavesong very much. The sunsets were spectacular and the sound of the waves so relaxing. Don’t let the trek down the stairs ( 75 ) keep you from enjoying the beach. There were biting flies so be sure to spray before you head down. PLEASE keep food off the counters and close the drains when not in use as we experienced fruit flies when we arrived. You will definitely enjoy the surrounding beaches and cities. Wonderful places to shop and eat!

Relaxing

Everything was as described. The sunsets were beautiful and all the extra amenities were great! As one other reviewer said make sure you have your check in instructions copied on your phone because there is limited service in the forest. Beautiful house that felt like home.

Sand, Sunsets, Spectacular Views

The cottage is nestled in a quiet, wooded neighborhood. The high windows offer a wide view of water and waves, the ceiling fans draw in the breezes of Lake Michigan. Plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy bonfires and spectacular sunsets. The steps down to the private beach are in good condition. It’s a clean beach to walk and there are chairs available to relax and just enjoy. The cottage was clean and the reclining sofa very comfortable. We enjoyed visiting Manistee, Ludington, Ludington State Park, Pentwater, and Frankfort while in the area. The owners responded quickly to any inquiries and provided some firewood for our beautiful evenings.

Wonderful Views from a Beautiful Home

This cottage is beautifully located on Lake Michigan in a quiet setting. We enjoyed the tranquility and awesome views, especially the sunsets. The cottage is all as described. Very clean and well equipped. This was a family vacation with our two children and their spouses and our one year old granddaughter. It was very enjoyable for all of us! We hated to leave!

Breathtaking views!

We had an AMAZING stay at Wavesong! It far surpassed our expectations. The pictures do not do this home or the views justice. It was so clean and stocked/labeled with everything we needed. I am so picky when it comes to cleanliness and I was very pleased!! It was the perfect location too. Just between Ludington and Manistee. We enjoyed both areas and found some new favorite spots. We canoed the Platte River, which was only a little over an out away to drop in. We can’t say enough good things about Wavesong. We will definitely be back!!

Peaceful and Restful

Description on the listing was more than accurate. Kitchen well appointed, owner easy to communicate with prior to and after stay, views amazing, walking on beach both north and south very peaceful, sitting on deck or next to overlook provided great views and engaging conversation. The stairs to the beach (75) were manageable. Will strongly consider the property for future vacations. Thanks for the honesty provided about the property. Highly recommend your consideration......except for the weeks we want of course.!!!
