Upon our arrival, we were immediately met with a foul odor within the home. (It smelled as if a deceased rodent was somewhere within the unit.) Upon further inspection we found a sock in the top of the bedroom closet, contaminated/used personal care items such as mouth wash, Hydrogen peroxide, fish oil supplements, medical tape, 3 different shampoos/body washes, toilet paper & flushable hygiene wipes all in several different locations. In the kitchen, we found rodent feces within multiple cabinets and drawers (that contained the cookware and utensils) as well as a filthy pan in the bottom oven drawer, which was also dirty and covered in dust a debris. Throughout the entire unit, it was clear that the floors hadn’t been swept or mopped, as there was hair and debris present on the floors in every room. The couch was discolored and had crumbs all over it. At that point, we decided it was a major health concern to stay in the home, especially with our 3 year old child, mostly because the risk of illness or disease from mouse droppings! We were inside of the unit for roughly 30-45 minutes inspecting the home and taking pictures before we vacated the premises. At which time we contacted the owner of the home, VBRO, and PMI Tyler. PMI Tyler suggested we stay in the home for 24 hours before they sent a cleaning service the next day (absolutely unacceptable! ) At that point, we simply requested a refund. They said we would get a half refund but only gave us 490 when we paid 1,168.25
