Churchill Country Retreat offers guests the rare opportunity to stay in a home with deep heritage and timeless charm. Built as a country retreat from the city, it now welcomes guests to experience the same tranquillity and beauty that once drew the Churchill family to the rolling landscapes of East Sussex, situated close to the village of North Chailey, near Lewes. Today, Churchill Retreat blends history with modern comfort, providing the perfect escape for families, groups, or special gatherings. Sleeping up to 11 guests across six individually styled bedrooms, the home combines elegance and warmth. Each room carries a unique theme, with cosy window seats for quiet reading. The master suite boasts a walk-in wardrobe and a luxurious ensuite bathroom with a statement bathtub designed for relaxation. The heart of the home is a spacious country-style kitchen, fully equipped with modern appliances perfect for preparing shared meals. Expansive living areas and grounds offer space for both lively gatherings and peaceful moments, including a swimming pool, hot tub, jacuzzi spa, with plenty of room for everyone to feel at home and Free Wifi for streaming all your favourite shows on the Smart TV.

The property is partially air-conditioned
The Churchill Family had strong ties to the Sussex countryside, favouring it as a place of retreat and reflection. Situated just a short distance from North Chailey near Lewes, where he balanced family life with moments of solitude away from political pressures. The landscapes of East Sussex, with their rolling fields, woodlands, and historic villages, became settings he cherished for their tranquillity and inspiration. Staying at Churchill Country Retreat allows guests to experience the same peaceful countryside that once offered comfort and respite to the Churchill Family.

KITCHEN / LIVING AREA
This home offers spacious areas, a fully equipped kitchen with modern amenities including two AGA ovens with electric oven and hob module, kettle, toaster and microwave, plus plenty of cookware, glassware, crockery and cutlery so you can easily cook up a family meal for everybody. In addition to this, we offer complimentary tea and coffee, salt and pepper - so please help yourself. The dining table seats up to 10 guests with additional chairs available. You’ll find the sociable and light living room set up with a Smart TV, making it a lovely space for chilling out, getting together for a few drinks or catching up on the events of the day. If you prefer, you can simply relax and watch a movie on the TV or find your own quiet space in the further sitting rooms. There is a separate utility room with a washing machine, tumble dryer and vacuum for guests to use.

POOL AND OUTDOOR ENTERTAINMENT AREA
Leading directly from the living area, you’ll find the stunning art deco-inspired pool and outdoor entertainment space, complete with comfortable loungers and a hot tub jacuzzi spa for guests to enjoy year-round. Just beyond the gated pool area is a children’s climbing frame and a large landscaped lawn – perfect for outdoor games or simply soaking up the fresh country air.
For your convenience, we provide one pool towel per guest during your stay. Please note that plastic glassware is supplied for outdoor use, as no glass is permitted around the pool area.
The Pool is available all year round, but can be heated between 1st June to 15th September at an additional fee of £200 per booking. If you're staying longer than 7 days, this £200 fee will be charged per week or part week thereafter.
Please note that five days’ notice is required to allow the pool to heat up.

PARKING
The property offers generous on-site parking, comfortably accommodating 4–5 vehicles.

HOT TUB JACUZZI SPA
The hot tub jacuzzi spa is available for guest use year-round. Kindly read the instructions carefully before operating. Plastic glassware is provided for outdoor use, as no glass is permitted in or around the jacuzzi.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE
Winding staircases connect the different levels within the house, so it may be difficult to access some of the bedrooms for those with limited mobility
Some exit doors remain permanently locked for health and safety reasons, and keys are not provided. Please look out for signage on each door for guidance.
Partial air conditioning is available in some rooms of the home.

Late check-out fee - £100+VAT per half hour unless a late check-out has been agreed upon in advance
There is a Travel Cot and a High Chair available in the house for guests to use free of charge.
