Four Gables, Thorpeness
This impressive light and airy family home is located on Lakeside Avenue with uninterrupted Meare views, ample parking space, and a lawn stretching down to the water’s edge. At the heart of the house is a sociable living/kitchen/dining room opening to the patio for indoor/outdoor living, plus two extra reception rooms and a shower room. On the first floor, you’ll find five equally beautiful bedrooms, with a newly refurbished family bathroom and en-suite shower room to the master bedroom.
You know you’re somewhere special as you enter the hallway with the view of the Meare through the glass doors ahead of you and a sweeping staircase taking you up to the first floor.
KITCHEN/DINING/LIVING SPACE
Perfect for family holidays or celebrating with a group of friends, this sociable space has double doors opening to the garden for indoor/outdoor living in the warmer months and is well-equipped for catering and dining at home.
The large kitchen flows through to a sociable dining area and then into the living area with restful views of the Meare through the sliding bi-fold doors.
Kitchen equipment includes a waist height electric oven, with integrated microwave and plate warmer, a four-ring gas hob, a dishwasher, a waste disposal unit and an American style fridge/freezer. There’s an additional fridge/freezer in a storage shed just outside the back door, if needed.
UTILITY ROOM
Ideally situated for sandy feet and beach gear with access through the back door and fitted with a sink, washing machine, a dryer and drying rack, with a door to the shower room. There’s also an outside tap to rinse your feet before going inside.
SUMMER TV ROOM
Sun streams into this bright room which has sliding bi-fold doors to the terrace and garden beyond, making it ideal in the summer for popping in and out to play, and in the winter or when the sun sets for curling up and watching the TV.
FAMILY ROOM
The massive corner sofa invites you to sit back and watch a favourite film, or choose one of the many games from the cupboard with a great selection for all ages, and a cute playhouse for little guests.
FIRST FLOOR
Carpeted stairs with a sturdy handrail rise to the first floor with a little half-landing before the steps to the main landing and all the bedrooms and bathrooms.
BEDROOM ONE
This is the first bedroom on the right as you get to the top of the stairs, at the front of the house, furnished with super king size bed with Louis XV style headboard situated between bedside drawers with a couple of chairs and storage in a chest of drawers and wall mounted clothes hooks.
BEDROOM TWO
Overlooking the garden and water beyond, this pretty room has twin beds with padded bed heads, bedside drawers, a chair, wardrobe and extra chest of drawers.
BEDROOM THREE WITH EN-SUITE SHOWER ROOM
Sit up in bed and soak up the view from the super king size bed with upholstered headboards in this lovely light room with its perfectly designed low windows. Ornate tables sit on either side of the bed; armchairs await by the window; and there’s ample storage to unpack and settle in with a walk-in wardrobe, and a couple of chests of drawers.
EN-SUITE
Actually a Jack and Jill shower room with locks on the door to bedroom three and to the hallway so you can use it to best suit arrangements with fellow guests. The cubicle in the corner has a hand-held shower and there’s a wash basin, WC, bidet, and a towel rail.
BEDROOM FOUR
Wake to the dawn chorus in this charming corner bedroom, furnished with a super king bed, chests of drawers and a wardrobe.
BEDROOM FIVE
At the front of the house, with a subtle seaside theme in the blue tones and shell print blinds. This bedroom has twin beds with a chest of drawers and wall mounted clothes pegs for your clothes. To accommodate any visiting children, there are children’s books on a bookcase in this room to choose from at bedtime.
BATHROOM
A large bath with a hand shower sits under the window and there’s also a corner cubicle with a rain and hand-held showers, a wash basin, WC, and a heated towel rail with towels supplied for all guests.
OUTSIDE
Arguably one of the best addresses in the village, Four Gables is located on Lakeside Avenue with the garden path stretching through the lawn to the water’s edge and a little jetty so you could launch your canoes or kayaks onto the Meare.
A patio runs along the back of the house with dining and lounge outdoor furniture, and a summer house at the side for some shade or to enjoy the evening sun..
At the front there’s a gravel drive with ample parking and you’re just a short walk from the sea, café, and fantastic Dolphin Inn with its big beer garden and restaurant serving excellent food and local beers. Aldeburgh is a bracing walk away along the beach or disused railway track, and the Thorpeness golf club is literally a putt away.
Whilst there is a small fence between the garden and the water, children must be supervised at all times for their own safety.
This is not a pet friendly property and this applies to anyone visiting you whilst staying at Four Gables please, as well as residents.
Please respect the neighbours and keep noise to a minimum, particularly outside, between 10pm and 8am.
Fire Regulations do not allow fireworks to be used in the grounds of Four Gables.
