Set in an incomparably panoramic position, Ortikia abounds in space and pampers with understated luxury.

Perched high above the sea on Lefkada's southeast coast, Ortikia boasts extraordinary, full-compass vistas, a fabulous infinity pool, superior fixtures and fittings and voluminous, light-filled interiors... all just a short drive from the tavernas and beach of Mikros Gialos!

Inside: Accommodation at Ortikia is laid out over a main house on two levels and an independent guest bedroom just across the terraces.

The entrance to the main house leads in to a spacious living and dining area with lofty, wood-beamed ceilings, capacious sink-in sofas and a panoramically positioned dining table. Three sets of French doors offer seamless access to the main outside terrace and pool area, and a feature fireplace surrounded by a wall of exposed stone adds warmth and character.

To the left of this space is the well-equipped country kitchen, which has a central islands and French doors accessing the covered al fresco dining area.

To the right of the living area, a short corridor leads to the first two bedrooms:

• a double with a large en-suite shower room and access to the side terraces
• a double-twin, also with an en-suite shower room and access to the side terraces

Back in the living area, a flight of stairs leads up to the first floor, which is entirely given over to a magnificently spacious, comprising a large double bedroom, a dressing room, a fabulous bathroom with both a tub and a separate walk-in shower, and a super panoramic sitting area that opens out onto a balcony looking out to sea, Lefkada's coastline, and other islands of the Ionian archipelago.

The independent, externally accessed guest room is a double with en-suite shower room.

Outside: the focal point of the outdoor areas at Ortikia is the large panoramic, stone-flagged terrace, which is home to a shady area for al fresco lounging and dining, and a fabulous sea-view infinity pool.

To one side of the house, just outside the kitchen, is a large barbecue and wood-fired oven, and a raised garden area, from where one may take in 360-degree views of Lefkada's wooded mountains, the sea, the island of Meganissi and much, much more.

Ortikia features a fantastic infinity pool, offering swimmers stunning views while in the pool. There is a drop off the infinity side so we recommend children are supervised at all times. Please refer to our general safety page if you would like more information about infinity pools. You may also like to know that the pool has a minimum depth of 1.25m.

Due to the nature of the property, which includes terraces, low walls and several drops around the grounds, children must be supervised at all times.

Although largely paved, parts of the access road to this property include some quite steep twists and turns and narrow stretches. We recommend guests rent smaller cars with high ground clearance rather than large people carriers or mini vans.

Please note that due to the risk of wildfires, the use of fire pits and barbecues is restricted when the weather is windy or temperatures are high. This is particularly common in July and August. More information will be provided in your House Guide and via your local specialist.
Ortikia is situated in the southeast of Lefkada, just over the water from the neighbouring island of Meganissi, a few minutes drive from the village of Poros and a 15-minute drive from the beach, harbour and seafront tavernas of Mikros Gialos, where it is also possible to rent boats.

Exploring the island of Lefkada, which is 35km long and 15km wide, is relatively easy in a week (if you can pull yourselves away from the views and pool of the villa!) and offers a great deal to see and do. The azure, transparent waters of the Ionian Sea are a real attraction and the varied coastline includes a host of golden sandy beaches and the dramatic white cliffs Cape Lefkatas on the southern tip. The wooded mountains of the interior, some of which rise to over 1100m, offer excellent walking, some truly beautiful scenery and a scattering of unspoilt villages where the way of life remains profoundly connected to the island's ancient traditions and customs.

The island's capital, Lefkada Town, meanwhile, is a buzzing centre with plenty of seafront tavernas and bars, a good selection of shops, and a busy marina.

At its northern point Lefkada is connected to mainland Greece by a causeway and, via frequent ferry services from the ports of Nidri and Vasiliki, to several of the other islands of the Ionian archipelago (including nearby Meganissi), making it eminently possible to explore further afield.
