We booked this a week prior to our arrival but when we arrived past 7pm the Manager on duty told us that the Expedia did not pay our stay and cancelled our booking, it was a 2 hours exchanging of communication between us and the Shangri-la and they instructed us to call Expedia as they are the vendor and we did not pay directly to them. I told them that I got confirmation that it was not cancelled and letter from Shangri-la reservatiom team that they are expecting our stay. Why should I cancelled a costly booking for 2 days if our family of 4 expecting to celebrate my daughter's bday there? It was a VERY INCONVENIENT check-in. Mactan road was flooded during our stay because it was raining hard then we arrived with this response. THE MANAGER John finally confirmed that our stay is an active booking and gave the necessary service and request. Shangri-la, we are not the first time guests please revisit your SYSTEM. John B. Manager you did your best but I do not buy staying in an offered downgraded room with higher price. I know you are fully booked but consider our stay because we are guests TOO. The ocean/ beach was the BEST part of this experience. Staff are commendable and friendly in the restaurants , beach, and swimming pool area. This is the closest best beach site that is decent so far in Mactan. Before you book ALWAYS check weather forecast. Despite of uncontrolled inconvenience we are still thankful for Safe stay. Thanks to my daughter's small bday gifts appreciate it
