"This place was a special place for us. The team at Karatu really were special who did out of their way to provide for us when there were issues, and when the first room seemed to have issues (shower drainage, bee hive on the roof, urine smell) they quickly changed the room to a better closer room, and always were helpful in arranging or finding different solutions for transportation issues etc. The place is located 2 hours from Arusha, and around 30 mins from the main gate for Ngorongoro crater....

"Beautiful property in somewhat isolated area. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Only regret did not allow enough time to enjoy the property. The restaurant does not offer ala carte choice but requests can be accommodated."

"It was excellent. The grounds are beautiful. The the food is superb. The room is large it had two king size bed and a fireplace a sitting area. we stayed at this Four Season in the Serengeti. this was comparable for a lot less money. I would stay here again. In fact, we extended our stay one day just to enjoy the service and the food. It is definitely a jewel."

"We had a beautiful stay at Rhotia Valley Tented Lodge. The staff was wonderful and very kind, especially Jumo. A portion of the money from your stay goes to the children's home located next to the hotel, which you are able to visit while staying there. The area and view around the hotel are beautiful, however there is a bumpy uphill road to reach the hotel. The dining room is a beautiful space as well and we had a wonderful meal there! "

"We had a great stay at lilac hideaway but the thing that stood out most are the way they stepped up to help guests with travel plans We rented a dud 4x4 and it would not start after we checked in - but Eli jumped in an d organized mechanics to come and then drove with us to take the car to the mechanics once they had gotten a new battery in. "This is a challenging review to write. The property is lovely and the staff was kind-though limited in their ability to resolve the issues. If you are looking for secluded, beautiful and restful, this could be the place for you. However it is located far from any town and further from many of the sites we chose to visit. "As the name would imply, the hotel is located uphill from the main street of the town. The rooms were spacious and were separated by a wall, so each person had their own section. The bathroom was an issue as the toilet, sink and shower were all in the same place, so that if someone had a shower, the whole floor would get wet.
