The Malthouse, Bantham, South Devon, near to beach

The Malthouse is a newly renovated, beautifully presented self contained home within walking distance of the famous surfing beach at Bantham, which lies within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Less than 1 mile from the South West Coast Path and the local amenities at Bantham village which has a general stores with cafe and historic pub. The Malthouse is perfectly located for both a tranquil country escape and yet still close by to the glorious South Devon coast for that seaside fix too !

West Buckland is a picturesque hamlet located within a short stroll from the coastal villages of Bantham and Thurlestone.

Set away from the main road traffic, the hamlet is set within a picturesque warm sunny valley which provides protection from coastal winds.

Bantham beach, famous for its surfing, offers a range of watersport lessons and equipment hire. Lifeguards are on duty in the summer months (from May - September) and a no dog policy is in place from May - October but there are plenty of walks around the sand dunes and along the riverside to walk with your pooch!

The Sloop Inn, Bantham, "your local" serves up some of the best food in the area, (make sure you leave some room for one of their fabulous desserts!)
There's also the Gastrobus, located by the beach which is open daily 10am-5pm serving up breakfast, snacks and pizzas!

The coastal path leading from Bantham to the village of Thurlestone is a lovely moderate 3-mile walk and it's dog friendly! The Village Inn, Thurlestone, is another popular local pub that serves up delicious food and for a more rustic beach -themed affair, try The Beach House, located at the far end of Thurlestone beach it is renowned for it's grilled fish and seafood dishes.

The market town of Kingsbridge offers all amenities from butchers, bakers, pharmacies and supermarkets. There's also a leisure centre with a gym and indoor swimming pool, two play parks, tennis courts, pubs, restaurants, take-aways, paddle-board hire and river trips up the estuary to Salcombe.

Guests have access to the entire property during their stay

There are four parking spaces at The Malthouse, one in the garage and one directly outside and two more on the opposite side of the road in the off road green parking bay. Steps lead up from the road to the main entrance situated on the first floor of the property.

On entry, you are greeted by a light and airy open plan kitchen/diner/living room with a wood burner and patio doors leading out to the raised balcony/terrace and garden.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a large range of cooking utensils and bake ware, a dishwasher, an oven, an induction hob, a microwave, a toaster, a kettle, fridge/freezer, and a 16 bottle wine cooler

There's plenty of seating inside and out; easily accommodating a large family or group.

The beautiful soft furnishings add those little home comforts; grab one of the luxurious blankets and sit outside to enjoy a glass or two of wine whilst watching the stars before slipping under crisp white linen in one of the comfy beds.

A utility room/cloackroom, fully equipped for all your laundry needs, is located off the kitchen.

The master en-suite, equipped with a separate bath and shower, can be found at the end of the living room and offers a comfy king-size bed.

The additional bedrooms are all located on the ground floor; Bedroom two - spacious room with en-suite shower and king size bed, Bedroom three with 2 x singles and en-suite wc/wash basin, and lastly, Bedroom four a second twin room which can also be made up as a zip and link large super king bed if preferred

The family bathroom is also located on the ground floor and is shared between bedrooms three & four.

The South West Coast Path runs right past Bantham and West Buckland - A ferry is available to take you across the River Avon (Not available all year round) and nature lovers may just glimpse Kingfishers, Housemartins and Guillemots in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Look towards the shoreline and occasionally they’ll be a shy seal among the rocks or even a playful dolphin.

If you want to venture further afield a car is essential, Kingsbridge and Salcombe are only a few miles away and the historic Tudor town of Totnes just slightly further.

'Outside Outside' activity centre and cafe, Woodlands Adventure Theme Park, South Devon Chilli Farm, and Kents Cavern are all nearby days out, particularly good for little ones.

If you fancy a change from the coast, you can head inland to stunning Dartmoor National Park, with it’s magnificent Tors and wild ponies, it’s all just a short drive away.

Quality white towels are provided for all guests but please note; your own beach towels will be required

If you are bringing a dog, can we please ask you to not leave it alone at anytime in the property, or let it get up on the furniture or beds, thank you
