The staff at the Hotel Zi are very compassionate and very kind; they do their best with what they can, as far as resources, the property, and managing the behavior of numerous guests and unpredictable issues. That said, there are small carpet stains and damage to the walls which require paint and some work along the baseboards. Though it was a non-smoking room, from the moment I stepped off the elevator and began walking toward the room, it smelled as if I were walking through a smoke filled hall to get to the room and it was like this each day I was present; the odor was quite offensive. Upon check in, for which I am grateful staff was very, very friendly about allowing early on a Saturday at 2pm, I learned the TV was not connecting to any services. They tried to switch my room, however the same problem existed in the other room, too. The hotel was unable to resolve the issue until mid-morning Monday, and also shared that there had been other guests who reported the same connectivity issue. Finally, I tried the buffet style breakfast one morning and it was completely cold and the toaster was not functioning, either. The front desk manager later explained that the person in the kitchen is new and may have forgotten to press the buttons to keep the food (eggs and sausage) warm or to plug in the toaster.
Finally, there was also a guest who played music so loudly it echoed from his room and down the hall and through the walls. Soundproof? Not so much.
