Disappointing from the time we arrived. Wrong code for door; owner had to come over to let us in. Garbage still in unit upon arrival. We booked and paid in full ( request of owner) for this place a year ago (Sept 2024) based on amenities listed in Vrbo listing. Upon arrival, was told they are starting renovations. No wifi. No TV (was told we could use the DVD player and had to provide our own DVD’s. Bathroom grungy. Freezer full of owners food (no room for our groceries). Instructions provided stated to provide your own toilet paper, soap, and garbage bags. Beach towels also not provided for guests. Definitely not worth what we paid for this 2 day stay. If they were doing renovations, they should have contacted us and allowed us to cancel. Have been to numerous VRBO’s in North America and Europe - never had this result.

Nightmare check in process and lots of inconveniences.

Just don't stay at this property. The check-in instructions are completely wrong. Instructions ask you to go to the 'Open Air Front Desk' and collect card keys to enter unit. But when I arrive at 4pm, they let me know that they can't help me with this specific unit and asked me to go to a window hiding behind a lattice screen. Ofcourse that window is closed, and nobody responds to any knocking. We then spend half hour, frantically search through all previous communications with VRBO regarding this unit, but don't know how to get into the unit. There were 2 phone numbers mentioned at the window that we called, but nobody picked up or called us back. We then decide to drive to the unit, and find the unit open, with fans running. We had to check to make sure there was no intruder in there. We decide to bring it all the luggage, but we still don't know how to lock the door, because there are no keys in the unit. After searching through more emails, we find what seems to be the owner's phone number and I call them. Thankfully we were able to get through to the unit owner and they provide me correct instructions to lock/unlock the unit. This is after close to an hour after arriving at this place. An employee did swing by around 6pm to check in on us and tell us to swing by office. Getting laundry and pool access was also difficult. The condo is quite dated, with dirty carpets. The lanai and shower doors need a lot of effort. The ancient microwave died on us on the 4th day.

Der modrige Geruch ist kaum auszuhalten!!!

Nach der Reklamation, dass es in dem Appartement so sehr ekelhaft stinkt (modrig, feucht...) haben wir von der Vermieterin nichts mehr gehört. Mann konnte sich wirklich nur nachts mit Ekelgefühlen aufhalten, und musste morgens direkt wieder raus. Wenn wir eine Alternative gehabt hätten wären wir sicher nicht eingezogen!! Definitiv viel zu teuer für so eine alte Absteige!!!!! FINGER WEG!!!

Winter getaway

We had lots of fun. Hood location if you want to go all over the island. Not a lay by the pool type of place and the beach across the street is home to a lot of homeless but there is a good path for biking and walking.

Loved the location, needs intensive cleaning!

Everything was great EXCEPT the room was not really clean. It was picked up and presentable, but it hasn’t been dusted in ages. And the baseboards, top of fridge, exterior of fridge, doors, and ceilings were not clean. The linens were old and there are stains on the couch. There is also a crack in the bathroom counter that looks gross because of the funk in between it. But we love where it was, the pool, the beach, the garden! And Coconut Market place and Longs Drugs in walking distance! Kapaa was great. Waters pretty rough, but we loved it!

Our stay

The place was very nice, with a couple of hip cups. When we went to check in an hour early we were told we could not have access till our exact check in time. We were to check in at 4:00 pm, but got to the property at 3;00. Not sure that was a difficult request. Also would of been nice to have beach chairs to take to the beach, as when traveling you can’t really bring them with you.

More than expected…

This was a last minute reservation and somehow this unit was available for our dates. The unit is nice, quiet and clean. The location was perfect as we visited north, south, east and west. Kauai is amazing. Everything worked in the unit, and though it is an older building the unit has been updated. Would definitely stay here again!

great bargain

The property is well located for the entire island as well as for the site. It is close to the pool, the beach, grocery/drug stores and restaurants. It is 10 minutes from the airport and about equidistant from Poipu to Princeville. Its not the 4 seasons but you don't have to pay for the Four Seasons either. Great Bargain in my book.

Early anniversary getaway

We booked this last minute (for Kauai) the owners were beyond helpful and accommodating. They made making reservations easy and communicated with us throughout leading up to our time and while we were there. Very enjoyable.

I’m not comfortable renting a place that I can’t see before hand. Not being able to request things like “downstairs “ or etc. Lucky for me this was quiet and ok.

Good location and unit

Unit is not modernly decorated, but has everything you need: bedroom, kitchen, bathroom. Bed is great and shower also. Air conditioning working great. A few repairs are to be done eventually but the basis is there, we were not planning to spend much time in the condo anyway! There was also a baby crib provided for our baby! Note that there is no dishwasher and minimal dishes are provided, but we were able to cook our meals. Overall a good place to stay, especially the great location at midpoint of North/South Kauai destinations!

I was leery about booking this condo but the price and location were right plus it was a last minute trip and we were running out of time. Looking back (strange post, photos and bad reviews) I should have gone with my gut but instead I gave the host the benefit of the doubt. Overall the condo was pleasant and clean. Host warned that many consumables would not be provided however fortunately it appeared that past guests left lots of useful items ie TP, trash bags, shampoo, sunscreen etc. The lanai gate was broken and based on previous reviews it has been broken for a few years now. This posed a hazard for our toddler. The communication with the host was weird to say the least. She was responsive but insisted that our child was not allowed on the bed ever because of possible pee stains. Yes she used those exact words. Host provided other multiple warnings and instructions which made me super paranoid about making sure everything was left in good condition upon our departure. We ran out of time and had to leave dishes drying on the rack but otherwise we made every effort to ensure all her instructions were followed. Sure enough a few days after our departure I get a request for $500 for excess filth and damage; host insisted my kid peed on the bed AND that multiple children stayed with us. So completely bogus. Our stay was actually overall pleasant up until this point. Before the false claims, I had planned to leave a positive review. Beware, book at your own risk.

Disappointed

The condo was in need of much repair, Kitchen: lights missing, cupboard broken, handles missing, disintegrating & broken drawers. All the dishes, cooking utensils, cutlery and pans & pots need to be replaced. The quantity of decent matching basic dishes, glasses & mugs(some chipped, cracked & stained), bowels, basic kitchen aids, etc was not available. People had bought paper plates. No dishwasher, single sink no drain tray (which we bought) and lack of hot water. The dishes that were there all needed a sanitary washing before use. The cupboards were sticky inside and out and needed a thorough washing. The hood and fan & light over the stove was non functioning. The bathroom counter was split( not just a crack) not even caulked, allowing water to run down how unsanitary. The patio door looks and handles were loose and insecure, particularly concerning as this is a ground floor unit. The linens like dish towels, hand towels, dish cloths etc were few, old and worn. The hot tub was so over chlorinated that it took your breath away. We did purchase items and left them for others use. With all the emphases in the literature on charging for missing items, keeping the place clean, etc. I believed this was an owner who had great pride and provided above average care and quality (at least basic set of matching Corelle). I don’t believe there is any fear of someone filling there suitcase with anything from this unit! There were bath towels and the bed was comfortable.

PERFECT IN PARADISE

ALOHA, WE LIKE STAYING MID ISLAND AND HAVE SPENT A MONTH ON KAUAI IN A KAPAA NEIGHBORHOOD FOR THE LAST 16 YEARS. FOUND A VRBO PROPERTY AT PLANTATION HALE THAT PROVIDED EVERYTHING ON OUR WISH LIST. THE UNIT WAS CLEAN, COMFORTABLE, WELL EQUIPPED AND ONLY HAD A COUPLE SMALL MAINTENANCE ISSUES WHICH DIDN'T IMPACT OUR STAY. GROUND FLOOR UNIT, NEAR BACK OF BUILDING, WITH EASY ACCESS TO ONE OF 3 POOLS WHICH WAS CLEANED EVERY MORNING, WE WOULD LIKE TO STAY IN THIS UNIT ON FUTURE TRIPS IF POSSIBLE. THE OWNER WAS VERY HELPFUL AND A PLEASURE TO COMMUNICATE WITH.. GRATEFUL FOR A GREAT KAUAI R&R. MAHALO, MICHELE

Not so sweet Plantation Hale Suites

Location is excellent ... right across the road from Safeway, Foodland, and a short walk to the Coconut Mall with lots of trendy stores there. Communication: We were inundated with 5 emails of rules before we arrived .... we thought wow this is one articulate owner .... we got here and found the lanai gate rusted out and hanging by one hinge, one kitchen door handle hanging by one screw, one drawer with the handle right off. Emailed the owner about this as a heads up to her ...... nothing ..... absolutely nothing in response ... our 1st condo responded in rocket speed .... here total silence. Accuracy: We were led to believe that there was a path to the ocean right by our condo development. What we see is a construction wall of 8 ft plywood with an additional three feet of black building fabric that has been worn down and torn flapping in the breeze ... turn you back to it and the condos look fine ..... but certainly NOT what we were led to believe. The path is blocked by a container to keep vehicles out ..... we did find the path .... it is fine .... the view is fine .... but nothing like the advertisement says we had. Check in process: Main desk excellent and open to the parking lot ... easy access and very pleasant people to deal with. Cleanliness: Kitchen was grubby, pots and pans not properly washed and greasy. Mugs need replacing as the coffee stains will not come out. Very few dishes available .. need one more mug (preferably clean), two more cereal bowls and one more serving bowl needed at the least. Steak knives have food build up between blade and handles, cutlery needs upgrading. Kitchen Towels thin and worn ... (Ross had a quick answer for that). Microwave and fridge were clean. Bathroom towels are fine. Overall Rating: Is okay ... the issue with us is all the rules and then the poor response or offerings of the condo. We suggest if you are a clean freak this is not the place for you ..... we were out and about all day and that made the stay fine for us but if you wanted to just stay at the condo I think you would be disappointed.
