Horrible Experience!
After flying 16 hours to get to Johannesburg, our driver arrived at the property only to be denied entry. I got out, explained who we were, what unit, that it was prepaid and prearranged and according to our host, “self check in”. He would not budge. We had to find a hotel to accommodate 5 guests requiring two rooms at 11pm at night after begging the security guard to let us in for 45 minutes. This was the absolute worst check in experience we have ever had! To add insult to injury, the next day, after an hour of back and forth with the host from our hotel lobby, we were finally granted access to the property. The host never met us and the person they had show us the apartment did not show us how to turn on the heat. We assumed it would be a simple step to set the thermostat, but were unable to find a thermostat. The host last response to us the entire week was “let me know when you’ve located the AC remote”. I informed we could not find it. She never replied and we never got heat. Joburg has sub freezing temps at night this week and we were all miserably cold the 1st night we slept here. As a result of no help from the host, and VRBO not able to get her to solve the situation or respond to us, we had to book the remainder of our trip in hotels. This was a complete waste of my money and time and quite literally ruined our vacation experience. At a minimum the host could have provided heat and replied to our requests. Beware!
