If you rely on Google Maps it’s hard to find the Islay House it’s best to use the A847 and you’ll have no problems. Property is amazing and staff very friendly, some parts of the property are being renovated. Breakfast was very good, there was no evening meal available when we visited on September 1. I would be happy to return as it’s such an interesting property

In the process of restoring this property. Rooms are very spacious and have all of the amenities that you require. Great location for exploring Islay.

Lovely old estate, with tonnes of history. Room was huge. Amazing view. Big comfy bed. Shower, bath, double sinks. Luxurious, just a bit old and needing some updating. Good location.

Jane was very friendly and welcoming, the room was perfect for us and did have the stated views. We had a great sleep and good breakfast before leaving which set us up for the day.

Breakfast was ok although staff spoke very little english. Ended up getting a full scottish breakfast when that wasnt what was ordered. Rooms were roasting hot and wouldnt turn down/ off. Rooms were good size but werent the cleanest or in the best of condition. Views are great and were the best part of the stay

It was a magical experience. The building itself was stunning, and the room really felt worthy of royalty. We stayed in 7 different hotels on our trip, and this one was by far our favorite.

Superbe hébergement. Grande chambre avec beaucoup de produits offerts.Beaucoup de salon commun pour tous. Personnel très dévoué pour ses hôtes. Déjeuner très gourmand. L'hôtel est très proche de la distillerie Bruicchladdich ainsi que la ville de Bowmore.

Only open for a couple of months, staff went to great lengths to get it right. They were pleasant, helpful and couldn’t do enough to ensure we enjoyed our stay.

Although it said seaview room, this did not happen. Beds were clean and comfy. We were put in a disable room (that none of us needed) there was a trip hazard with carpet between bedroom & bathroom. The wet room which had poor drainage and after 3 people showered the water flooded the whole bathroom. Without us putting down towels water would have seeped into bedroom. During our 3 night stay there was no change of towels or beds made although someone had been in the room to empty bins. For the price paid I would have expected a better standard of accommodation. Breakfast was fine, but only offered gluten free bread as an option.

So much potential undelivered unfortunately. The building is stunning & the rooms internally were lovely, but parts externally are in state of disrepair & buildings round the back look like they’re falling apart. Our first impression wasn’t amazing, we’ve come to expect a warm welcome of Scotland, but the greeting we received was functional, very polite & well mannered, but not warm or welcoming. We also weren’t given an Islay House guide which meant we had to guess what the amenities were such as WiFi access. We spotted a stack of these in reception as we checked out, bit of a shame. We were also hoping to learn a bit about the island, features, must visit places etc but unfortunately the chap wasn’t able to help & seemed to lack the knowledge. We’d booked a suite which was stunning but one window wouldn’t open as it’s been painted shut and the TV didn’t work - only showing BBC1 on the first day, nothing at all on the second day. On inspection the aerial cable was frayed. Breakfast was mixed. The full Scottish breakfast & smoked salmon/scrambled egg/crumpet was good on day one. Day two wasn’t so good - the porridge was pretty cold & the croissant clearly had been warmed in the microwave too much and was hard. Also an improvement would be teapots & cafetières for coffee and tea instead of the nespresso machine which doesn't pour water hot enough for tea and some other guests struggled with. Overall a lovely building, loads of potential but didn’t quite deliver.

O hotel parece uma casa abandonada, tudo muito vazio, vc não vê ninguém. O café da manhã era muito ruim, sem opções , somente coisas industrializadas, sem pão fresco etc. uma funcionária apenas, que não tinha nenhum preparo para hotelaria . Não voltaria !!
