"The staff was very helpful when our TV wasn't working and when we couldn't figure out our AC. They even helped with our toilet and cleaned and replaced our towels while doing so. And our light under the microwave needed to be replaced too. I thought you guys provided things like silverware, plates, cups etc... but I was wrong. "The James river hotel formally the King James is almost historical in Newport News. The hotel has been through VERY ROUGH times of people it's time in business. Overall it has truly stood the TEST OF TIME. The age of the rooms would be a five on my scale. However other than that I will stay again as I have done for over 40 years. God bless "

"The pool is very small. The property was obviously overbooked and they didn’t plan very well so the check-in was not good thereafter the stay was just fine."

"Great everything! The only thing I would recommend is that they move the smoking designation to somewhere far away from the building. The lobby smells like smoke but otherwise it is a great property."

"Lovely property and full of history. Check in was wonky and check out was worse. To check in we had to go to the bar/restaurant and ask "where's check in?" The bartender checked us in, which was fine, but a bit odd. When we checked out the next morning the downstairs restaurant was closed and locked, so there was nowhere to check out. We ended up leaving the physical key in our room and hoped for the best. Going forward, the hotel should alert guests to the lack of check out, to aleviate...

"I can’t put into words how great my stay was at Element PTC. From the GM to the staff EVERYONE WAS GREAT! I was truly sad to leave! They made me feel like family. The complimentary breakfast was awesome EVERYDAY as well as the chefs and prep team! Front Desk staff were Super! The cleaning staff was very attentive! Please please stay here!
