The house is very clean. Pictures are accurate. We enjoyed our stay very much. The view is priceless. I feel in heaven every morning preparing breakfast with this view. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking oil and seasoning. There is no grocery store within walking distance, the closest is in Hahei, 10 minutes drive. So you might want to get groceries driving in, maybe in Tairu if you drive from Auckland.
Walking to the beach takes 7 minutes. There are two eateries by the beach: hot wave cafe and hotties. We love hot wave cafe, it is such a gem: food is good and reasonably priced, macha latte is delicious, the court yard is shaded and very idyllic, great place to start your day. Highly recommended. Opens from 9am to 3pm.
We went to the beach one day at low tide, we dug holes for the hot water. It is very fun. The kids played there for 3 hours, went through the whole cycle of digging holes, build a fortress for the waves, and watch the waves sweep away all the sand. Both sand and waves are of endless supply, and it provide such fun material for everyone, no matter the age. There are 3 spades in the shed of the house.
We love hot water beach and enjoy the house. We look forward to returning.
