Quiet Cottage in the Woods on the Edge of Town

This home has everything you need for a relaxing get away. Everything is designed with comfort and convenience in mind . The kitchen has everything needed to cook at home. The living room has a peaceful view of the woods and the wood stove / fireplace. The bedrooms are furnished with comfy bedding. The loft den overlooks the living room and provides a cozy spot to read a book or work on a puzzle. There is a three season porch and a spacious deck to enjoy the view of the woods. And the perenial garden provides a lovely place to sit and relax.

Care to be more active? We have hiking trails through the woods on the property. Carey lake park is just a mile down the road with hiking, boating, fishing, swimming, and cross country skiing in the winter. (Ski rental is available upon request.) There is a bike trail across the road and access to the Mesabi Bike Trail that runs from Virginia to Grand Rapids is within a couple miles. The Redhead Mountain Bike trail is 8 miles away. Historic North Hibbing, the Hull Rust Mine view, and the spectacular Hibbing High School are noteworthy sites and all within 5 miles.

We are open to a few more than 4 guests if they would be okay with a couch or air mattress. There is plenty of room to accommodate them.

What a lovely property! Everything was as described in the listing, or better. Clean, and fully equipped with supplies (linens, kitchenware, firewood); there were even muffins & home-grown honey waiting us at check-in!

The accommodations were perfect. Cozy and roomy place to stay while visiting Sax- Zim Bog. Only 15 minutes from May Lou's feeders. Fresh corn bread muffins with their own honey were so delicious. Communication with host was fantastic as well.

The "Hus" is a beautiful location with a cozy and comfy vibe. It has quiet surroundings with lots of trees and wildlife. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware, utensils, and dishes. There are also some goodies and coffee/tea provided. The laundry room is large and has everything needed. The downstairs bedroom has a comfortable bed and the closet has a lot of useful space for hanging and laying out clothes. Siri was super friendly and responsive to all messages. Check in and out were very easy. We will definitely stay here again when we are visiting the area.

My husband and I were coming to the area to ride our Ranger in the National and State Forests. We wanted a clean and comfortable stay with parking space for our trailer. The Quiet Cottage in the Woods, aka Stolhammer Hus, fit the bill perfectly! The house was stocked with almost anything you could need, and the awaiting cornbread muffins and honey were a very thoughtful gesture. Also appreciated the slipper socks to wear in the house. We hope to return for a longer time as we just missed seeing the Northern Lights that appeared the day after we left.

The Quiet Cottage, also known as Stolhammer Hus, is the perfect base to explore the Mesabi Bike Trail and the Range. The house is very clean, well equipped, and very comfortable. Great screened in porch, as well as a deck that has you sitting in the woods. The host is great, very accessible and helpful with local recommendations. I would highly recommend the Quiet Cottage in the Woods!

We loved staying at this picture perfect, charming, cottage in the woods. It is very clean, comfortable and inviting and we loved everything about it. It has more than enough room for 4 adults and so much better than any hotel. Siri is a wonderful host and we loved reading how the cottage came to be, Stolhammer Hus is a very special place.

Great property which the owner clearly cares a lot for. She went out of her way to make us feel welcome and the small touches of hospitality went a long way. My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay playing board games late into the night at the large dining room table. I'd gladly stay here again someday.
