This light-filled stone cottage in pretty Helford is a lovely spot for a quiet Cornish holiday with family or friends. Look forward to sunny breakfasts overlooking the creek, coastal adventures and cosy evenings by the fire. You’ll also have a handy village store (100 metres) and a thatched 18th-century waterside pub (20 metres) so you can easily pop in for supplies and evening drinks surrounded by locals.
Enter through the private enclosed patio into the large open-plan living and dining room, where beamed ceilings, oak flooring and a stone fireplace provide plenty of character. Settle into the comfy seating beside the wood burner, pick something to watch on the Smart TV or raid the cupboard of board games. A rustic wooden dining table sets the scene for shared meals, while the bespoke blue-and-ivory Shaker-style kitchen beyond is ready for meal prep, with its Falcon electric range cooker. Slate flooring with underfloor heating keeps everybody cosy underfoot, and the breakfast bar has views over Helford creek. Upstairs, the duck-egg blue bathroom has a bath with an overhead shower and WC. The small double bedroom and spacious king-size (accessed through the bunk room) both have beautiful river views, while the nautically themed bunk room has full-length beds measuring 2’6” wide – along with toys in the under-bed drawers. Outside, the sheltered patio, complete with furniture and a BBQ runs the length of the cottage and catches the morning and early afternoon sunshine. There’s also a handy outdoor shower (hot) for rinsing sandy feet and wetsuits, along with an outhouse housing a second WC and hanging space for wet towels and wetsuits. You’ll have private parking for two cars 75 metres up the lane. Bringing a boat? Feel free to use the cottage’s all-tide mooring at Potters Pontoon (350 metres) for an extra charge.
Nearby, join the nearby South West Coast Path (500 metres) to explore the coastline at your own pace. The 1000-year-old Helford ferry (350 metres, April-October) is all ready to take you across to Helford Passage Beach (0.5 miles), where you can go swimming, paddle boarding, snorkelling and rock pooling. You may also like to visit the quaint village of Manaccan (1.5 miles).
