Welcome to Sunset Bank Cottage! A brand-new ocean escape on the shores of breathtaking St. Margaret’s Bay, Nova Scotia. Just steps from the ocean, Sunset Bank enjoys unparalleled views of the bay, where you can watch the sun set each night. Relax on the front deck and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. We will let you know what time the sun sets each night so you wont miss it! Brand new and fully equipped our 2-bedroom, open concept cottage offers all the comforts of home, ready and waiting for you to unwind.

Just 7 minutes away from world-renowned Peggy's Cove, located in the tranquil community of Hackett's Cove in St. Margaret’s Bay. Here you will find numerous restaurants, where seafood is always on the menu. Cafés and bakeries abound, for those looking for coffee and a quick bite. Nature lovers may enjoy a sea kayaking tour, or one of the many hiking and biking trails near by. Take a boat tour and see the famous Peggy’s Cove lighthouse from a different perspective, or head to Pearl Island and see the puffins!

Our cottage is the ideal home base for numerous day trips. Head down the South Shore to picturesque Mahone Bay, the town of three churches. Continue on to colourful Old Town Lunenburg a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, a beautiful 90 minute drive along the ocean. Or spend the day in the beautiful Annapolis Valley, home to most of the province’s wineries. A great place to see the highest tides in the world at the Bay of Fundy, only a 90 minute drive. Halifax is just 40 minutes away, spend the day in the bustling city, and come back to relax at Sunset Bank Cottage.

It was our second visit enjoying Beth's cottage! Being there for our second time was just as exceptional as our first visit last year! It is our new home away from home. We look forward to next year! Beth is an exceptional hostess with supplying everything that you need. Love her personal touches of farm fresh eggs, flowers from her garden, and dog bed/bowls/blankets. The cleanliness and decor are perfection..love the new deck/seating by the beach area. She is always there for you!

Far exceeded our expectations!!! The cottage was beautifully decorated and well equipped for our stay. A perfect home-base location for taking day trips throughout N.S. Rooms are spacious and beds are luxurious! Beth was lovely to deal with and all the little touches throughout the cottage were well appreciated :) We highly recommend and can’t wait to come back.

Sunset Bank Cottage is amazing! We loved this cottage - very quiet and peaceful with spectacular views. The cottage is decorated beautifully, very well stocked, and so inviting and comfortable. The landscaping and flowers are stunning and really added to the ambiance. Beth is wonderful host. She checked in to make sure we didn't need anything. One of the special touches was fresh cream for coffee and fresh farm eggs. Every single thing about this property is perfect. We highly recommend!

This is the best property we got over that past decade!! The location is just amazing with a breathtaking view on the bay. The cottage is equipped like never seen before with a level of details that is over the top! The cleanliness and the condition of the place is 11/10 and the communication with the owner Beth is irreproachable. I do recommend this place to whoever wants to spend good, relaxing and quiet time in a peaceful environment.

A perfectly-appointed cottage with spectacular sunsets

We cannot say enough good things about our stay at Sunset Bank Cottage.Our goal was to relax, unwind and explore the area as we wished. From the cottage, we explored Peggy's Cove, Lunenburg, Mahone Bay and vistas along St. Margaret's Bay. Upon arrival, I knew the photos of the cottage looked great, but I was not prepared for how perfect the cottage was for the two of us - it was tastefully decorated, spotless, comfortable, and included thoughtful touches like hand-written notes about the area and dog bowls were set out for our dog when we arrived. The backyard was peaceful and full of wildlife, including hummingbirds, chickadees, goldfinches, and gulls.You will be blown away by the view of the ocean, and if you're lucky like we were, a sunset on a cloudless night. We sat in the backyard (you may need a sweater) and watched the sky change colours while listening to the water crash onto the shore. You should also go down to the water to see the sunset by taking the backyard pathway – it is worth it! We recommend exploring Peggy’s Cove, the Swissair Flight 111 Memorial, and the Train Station Bike & Bean in Tantallon. We enjoyed our meal at Rhubarb and getting ice cream at Whale’s Back Country Store as well.Thank you to Beth for being a wonderful and thoughtful host – everyone needs to experience a sunset from her cottage and explore the local gems of St. Margaret’s Bay.

This cottage really checks all the boxes. I have been around more than a few years and this is without a doubt, the nicest, most comfortable and well equipped place I’ve ever stayed at. Beth has done a fantastic job on this cottage and Mother Nature provides you with a fantastic view!! Don’t miss out on this place, you’ll not regret it!!!

This is the best cottage we have rented for so many reasons! First, it was so clean that I thought we must have been the very first renters but the guest book entries went back to 2024 so I was extremely impressed with the cleanliness. The property manager left a lovely note welcoming us aling with a map of Peggy's Cove with a list of local attractions; the best of which she highlighted for us! On top of that, the cottage is very well appointed with anything we might need, including common things one might forget, i.e. toothbrushes (still in packaging), toothpaste, moisturizer, and floss!She also gifted us 6 farm fresh eggs which were divine! The beds and all furniture were incredibly comfortable. Suffice it to say, I did not want to leave!! With only three days in town we were busy visiting with friends and family so didn't quite have time to take the path down to the shore but that is on the list for next time. The location was downright enchanting as we had two deer sightings (they're much bigger than I would have thought!), and bird watching with the binoculars provided was a real treat! All in all, I can't wait to stay there next time we take this trip-hopefully for a much longer stay!!

Perfect stay!

My wife and I’s first visit to Nova Scotia and we could not have asked for a better house and a better host. Beth has thought of everything her guests might need. Immaculately clean home and so comfortable. Beth provided us with some eggs and coffee products. Combine with grocery stores in easy driving distance and it made for wonderful mornings. And the view? Incredible and inspiring. I loved my mornings and evenings on the little bench down the stairs leading to the bay. I got paid a visit by deer, a bald eagle and a good sized seal who would poke his head up and bark at me in the evenings! The view is just as good from the house. Not a fan of the outdoors? Then stay inside and enjoy the view of the bay from the house. The sunsets are awe inspiring. The hardest part is not wanting to leave such a beautiful place to explore Nova Scotia! But do get out and explore. The locals are so kind. So many good local dining establishments. The house puts you in easy driving range of Halifax and the charming small towns of the South Shore. One of the best vacations we have ever had! We hope to return. Thank you Beth and Sunset Cottage!

Das war die beste Ferienunterkunft, die wir je hatten. Hier stimmt einfach das Gesamtpaket. Unfassbar schönes, neues und perfekt ausgestattetes Haus mit atemberaubenden Meerblick und vielen Gelegenheiten, Vögel, Eichhörnchen und Hirsche von der Terrasse zu beobachten. Das Haus ist sehr ruhig gelegen, perfekt zum Erholen, aber auch sehr gut für Tagesausflüge nach Peggys Cove, Halifax oder Burntcoat Head. Beth ist die liebenswerteste und freundlichste Vermieterin, die wir je hatten. Mit ganz viel Liebe zum Detail hat sie unseren Urlaub unvergesslich gemacht.

Idyllic Stay

Can’t say enough good about this property. The pictures do not do it justice. The care and attention to comfort and beauty was evident in every room. Beautifully decorated- every amenity- spotless- and stunning views…we were so sad to leave. Beth- the host- obviously genuinely cares about creating an amazing guest experience from her personalized welcome note, fresh eggs and cream in the fridge, a kitchen fully stocked with spices, oil, coffee etc. Also- great yard with deck and bbq. And at the bottom of the garden a little path down to the water and a private bench for sunset views or communing with the forest and the water. Super private and perfectly situated to explore the area. Don’t miss the sunset!

My husband and I had the best sleeps at Sunset Bank Cottage from June 6-8, 2025. The king mattress and pillows were so comfortable. The property is new, well appointed and offered lots of extras from an abundant supply of coffee and tea, to puzzles, binoculars, tons of towels and a full range of kitchen appliances. The property offers privacy, ample outdoor seating on the deck, and of course the sound and views of the ocean. Lots of birds in the area as well. Beth was very helpful and responsive. I would go back in a heartbeat. Maritimers are by far the warmest and friendliest of all.

Perfect Paradise Nova Scotia Experience

Pictures don’t do it justice! The cottage is absolutely immaculate, clean, beautifully decorated, every detail so well thought out. The host was so helpful with touring the area, suggesting restaurants, shops and so easy to get in touch with. The kitchen is set up with everything you need to cook, bbq, keurig coffee machine (pods, tea, honey, sugar, cream), host put eggs from their family farm in the fridge for us, brought us a pot to cook lobster:) Bedrooms outfitted with high quality bedding, pillows, and mattress. Bathroom was spotless equipped with many toiletries. The view is spectacular with walk down to water and outdoor seating. It was completely private, quiet yet accessible and central to many places to go: Peggy’s Cove, fresh seafood, grocery stores close by. A definite complete Nova Scotia experience
