Beautiful private villa situated only 6 km away from the lovely medieval town of Gubbio, in Umbria. This property has been recently restored and turned into a comfortable house offering large interior areas and a beautiful, bright and panoramic living-room. A nice, well-kept garden and a private swimming-pool are available. The garden also offers a small building with a well-stocked kitchen, oven and barbecue.
The location is ideal to visit the most beautiful towns in Umbria like Assisi, Gubbio, Perugia, Spoleto and Urbino.
The access to the property is via an unpaved but well-maintained road.

Distances: Gubbio with all kinds of shops 6 km away, the charming town of Assisi 36 km, Urbino 35 km, Perugia 40 km away, Fano (on the Adriatic sea) 60 km, Spoleto 60 km away, Lake Trasimeno approx. 60 km, Grotte di Frasassi 45 km, San Marino 120 km away.

At guests’ disposal: large garden with private irregular-shaped swimming-pool (16 x 15 m – maximum depth 4 m), small building in the garden with kitchen, oven and barbecue, large outside areas furnished with tables and chairs for “al-fresco” dining. Parking within the grounds.

Extra services: Extra bed upon request at € 15,- / per day (payment on site). Baby bed available at € 5,- / per day payable on the spot. Maid service by arrangement € 10,- / per hour (to be paid locally). Lunch and dinner services are available upon request. Underfloor cooling system

We were able to check off a bucket list item at one of the most beautiful villas in Umbria! As frequent travelers to Italy, we have wanted to take our kids and grandkids to see the special places we love in this country. The location of Villa Contessa is perfect for day trips or for sitting and relaxing in nature. The villa itself is spectacular!. The owners have created a wonderland wherein a family can cook and eat together on an amazing vista deck, swim in the huge and nature surrounded poole, collect fresh eggs for breakfast and just "be". Gubbio is a historic "citta" for discovering a rich Gubbian culture and to enjoy local specialities. We enjoyed our daily cappuccino's and evening sritzes often followed by artegional gelato.The Villa itsel has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, two kitchens and dining areas. The kitchens are completely stocked with anything and everything a cook will need for meal preparation and there is an outdoor room and patio area for those who like to grill. The bedrooms are well appointed and everyone in the family felt they slept well and long, sometimes too long when planning for a day trip! The bathrooms are each lovely and either have a shower or a tub. The property itself is a paradise in the hills, but still only 5 minutes away from town. Our family loved the fact that there is a really friendly dog who "owns" the property and kept our grandkids entertained as well as giving them a job to feed him!. There were also some new ki

Most Memorable Experience

Staying at Villa Contessa is staying in an alternate universe. The property itself is out of a fairytale. It's tremendous with apricot trees, a full fruit and vegetable garden, pigs, chickens... not to mention the sweetest "pets" Kia, the dog and Virus, the cat that roam the grounds.The pool is out of a movie. The owners - Oliver, Anna and Carlo - couldn't be nicer. Ask them about pasta night and pizza night. You wont regret it! My husband, daughter (5), mother-in-law, and I spent the week at Villa Contessa and when it was time to leave, we were quite sad. Contessa's unique charm will charm you and keep you wanting more. Ultimately you look past the quirks (fluffy towels, more hangers, thicker mattresses, newer bedding would have been nice), and you feel privileged to have then experience. I'm glad we stayed at Villa Contessa. We would happily return!

Most memorable stay in Umbria paradise

Carlo and his family are perfect hosts and immediately made our family feel so welcome and at home. The property and home are impeccably cared for and every last detail to provide a comfortable stay has been tended to. The area is so peaceful and the views are heavenly. The Villa embodied everything we imagined and more for our vacation - the reality is even better than the online photos and description can convey. We celebrated one of our daughter’s birthdays during our stay and Carlo and his family even helped facilitate getting a custom birthday cake from a local bakery and hosted an exquisitely delicious in-home dinner with homemade pasta! Our kids (ages 6, 8, 9, 12 and 18) had THE BEST time and did not want to leave. They enjoyed running around the property, playing with the owners’ dog and cat, collecting eggs from the chickens each morning, and visiting the baby pigs. We picked strawberries and beans from the garden and hope to come back later next summer when trees are bearing their fruits. Villa Contessa is ideally located for exploring the countryside and magical medieval towns of Umbria. During our stay we visited Perugia and toured the Perugina chocolate factory. We spent two days in nearby Gubbio, visited a winery in Montefalco, and strolled through the flower-laden streets of Spello. Next time we plan to visit Orvieto and Assisi, which are also easy day trips from the villa. The villa itself is so magical that one could happily stay put the entire stay.

Uitmuntend verblijf in Umbrie

Mooi en rustig gelegen verblijf met schitterend zwembad. Zeer aardige eigenaar. Bracht frequent verse eieren van eigen kippen en verse groenten uit de moestuin. Wij waren er tijdens de periode dat er noodweer was en in het gebied 10 mensen zijn omgekomen. Bij ons viel de elektriciteit uit zoals ook in een aantal andere huizen. Eigenaar heeft er alles aangedaan om het ongemak zo tijdelijk mogelijk te maken en dat lukte! Het verblijf ligt circa 10 min rijden van Gubbio. Dit is een uitermate charmant stadje met alles wat een toerist nodig heeft. Wij zijn nooit zo van denken aan terugkomen, omdat wij van variatie houden, maar dit huis zou wel boven op de lijst staan!

Great week in a wonderfull place

Nous avons passé une très belle semaine dans ce superbe domaine. Pour ceux qui aiment la nature, les grands espaces, les animaux, le calme et les belles et grandes maisons, c'est le bon endroit. A noter que nous avons été tres bien accueillis par le propriétaire Olivero et son fils tout à fait charmants et très chaleureux. Nous avons également beaucoup apprécié Gubbio qui vaut le détour, et les grottes de Frasassi parmi les plus belles et les plus grandes d'Europe. Nous recommandons vivement Villa Contessa!

Amazing Umbrian villa!

We rented this property with another family (4 adults, 4 children), and had an amazing experience! The villa is even more amazing than the pictures. The pool is huge and beautiful. Many, many areas to sit/eat, beautiful outdoor areas, and ample kitchen space. Gubbio is a short drive away and is a wonderful medieval town with many great restaurants. Highly recommend!

Spacious and Secluded - Perfect place to spend time with friends and family.

We came to this villa after visiting couple of major Italian cities full of tourists, like ourselves. We knew that we will be tired from trying to visit as many museums and iconic places as possible. This place was perfect to relax and spend several days with just the family and our friends. The villa's property is huge and it surrounded by mountains. If you stay at the villa, you won't hear of see anyone, except maybe the villa's friendly owner, who comes once in a while just to ask if everything is fine and if you need anything. On the first morning he brought breakfast for all of us. That was very nice and honestly, very helpful, because we were very hungry and nobody wanted to go anywhere. If you enjoy eating at home, you won't be disappointed. There are few covered and uncovered terraces and at least two large dining rooms in the house. If you prefer to eat out, there is very cute and very inexpensive local restaurant less than ten minutes drive from villa. The atmosphere there is exceptionally nice. Food was great and service was even better. Thank you guys! Unfortunately, we came to the villa when it wasn't warm enough to enjoy the pool. The owner actually was preparing it for the new season. I am sure that would add some extra enjoyment to our vacation. One day we went to local supermarket and accidentally discovered ancient city of Gubbio. That was a nice surprise. Everyone is different, but we are so glad that we had an opportunity to stay at this villa for almost a week. Thank you!
