"The cottage was pristine, we felt like we were the first guests. It is a spacious, comfortable and stylish property and the owner’s attention to detail is second to none. "When we entered the apartment it was so cold and took all night for the heat to warm up. It was not a pleasent first impression. The apartment was advertised to have a king sized bed and it was an extremely hard queen sized bed. The first plate and fork rhat I went to use were bith dirty. "Loved the secluded location within walking distance of the southern end of Lake Windmere. The cottage was smart and very clean, and well equipped, but we were stumpted on how to adjust the settings on the upmarket oven (a manual in kitchen drawer would have helped). We found that we had to be vigilant about the step in dark slate floor between bedrooms and kitchen/lounge (we used a bit of white cardboard to visually remind ourselves.) Had a great stay at The Bothy, we highly recommend it "

"We have been coming to the lakes for many years, and thie Duke of portland is by far our favourite place to stay....and it's just not down to it's location alown, it's the attention to detail, it's the Decor inside...its absolutely stunning....the owners should be extremely proud of what they have achieved with his property......"

"This is an excellent house in superb state of repair with very good quality furniture. It is very well equipped and spotlessly clean. The booking process was simple and Martin Wardle of the agents was extremely helpful. The house is situated in a village which is very near Kendal, the lakes and just over one hour to the Solway coast.
