This house is one of three for rent on the same property (Pitokuku, Ruru and Tree House). All houses are uniquely private and within a short walking distance through native bush — ideal for large families and groups.
Pitokuku is a four-bedroom luxury home built in 2021, the largest of the three. Set well apart in mature kānuka and mānuka with total privacy, it sleeps 10 without compromise.
Open-plan kitchen and living with timber floors, floor-to-ceiling windows, wine fridge, and a sunny breakfast nook. Master bedroom with large ensuite and rainfall shower. A separate cabin — queen room and bunk room — sits just metres from the back deck, perfect for families wanting two zones.
Sprawling decks front and back for morning coffee and evening drinks. Inside and outside fireplaces for winter stays. Sonos, Smart TV, full WiFi, washing machine.
Off-grid and solar-powered. Great Barrier Island is a certified Dark Sky Sanctuary — the Milky Way is visible most clear nights. One of the few places in New Zealand where the silence is actually complete.
Five minutes by foot to Medlands Beach. Ten minutes by car to Tryphena, the brewery, and the airport.
The name Pitokuku is inspired by Pitokuku Island, which can be seen from the deck — directly behind the Sugarloaf headland, due north.
