This is the 3rd we are staying at the Ascott Gurney Penang. We have always liked the amenities of the Ascott, especially the in-room washer/dryer and spacious rooms. The cost to stay at this hotel is very expensive. I wish the price can be further improved, or allow us to earn points while paying so much money to stay here so that we can save money in our future stays. I have joined the Ascott Rewards program but the hotel staff refused to let me bank our points because we did not directly book our stay with the hotel website. That is a pity considering this is our 3rd stay and each time we stay for a week or so. Parking continues to be another discontent where the need to validate our parking ticket each time we leave the hotel, is not a good use of our time. We sometimes have to wait for the receptionists to attend to guest check-ins before they can validate our parking ticket (which only takes a few seconds). On the last night of our stay, the parking facility in the basement (where we usually park our vehicle) was not functioning so they shut down the basement parking. In refusal to drive up the spiral driveway up to the high-floor parking ramp, we have to pay RM50 to pay for valet parking at the front of the hotel. That was our biggest complaint for this stay.
