ANYONE BOOKING THIS PROPERTY PLEASE READ: The hotel sits on top of a very popular pub that has live music going until 2-2:30am some nights.
There is absolutely no sound-proofing (we were on the second floor) so if you are a light sleeper or are bothered by noise DO NOT book this hotel. It felt our room was in a club bathroom, and could hear the music, and lyrics clearly. If you're going to be out partying / drunk all night, this could be a good hotel for you.
I think the hotel should have better warnings about the noise. They say it gets "lively" which is a gross understatement. Pricing the rooms that are on the first or second floors at a cheaper rate would be more fair- if it was explicitly stated that you'd be hearing music until 2am. I wish I read more reviews before booking this hotel.
The photos on this Expedia listing are also misleading (the show a picture of a cathedral interior) which isn't a part of the property. The street view is also much different. Quay street is congested with foot traffic, buskers, and outdoor dining- which isn't a complaint.
Quay street is where most of the action is in Galway and it's a super convenient location, just not worth the price for 2 nights of no sleep.
