Summer Wind, Beachfront with incredible views! 5 miles from Galveston sea wall!


There is bed space for 10 people. 8 or 9 adults is comfortable. We do allow up to 11, with one on the couch or on the spare mattress that is under the bed. This beachfront home has one of the best views of any home on the West End, yet close to the fun of downtown Galveston. Easy walk to Galveston State Park. Our beach has a private feeling and is very quiet (no cars are allowed to drive on beach thus no worries about the kids/dogs). Once you cross the bridge from the mainland you will find a unique experience. We feel like we are entering a different world when we visit our beachfront island home! This is a pet friendly home with a pet fee of $75 per pet.

COVID-19: The house is ideal for social distancing. The beach is not crowded, there is plenty of outdoor deck space, and I recently upgraded the HVAC with a media filter and a UV air treatment system. Our cleaning company disinfects all touch surfaces (light switches, door knobs, counter tops, etc). If at any time our beach is closed down, the city prohibits short term rentals, or there is a state wide lock-down and you are prevented from using your reservation I will return all money paid. Please stay healthy!

MISC: This home is set back, plenty of beach in front and only small dunes between you and the beach. Please note, the map illustration can make it appear there are lots in front of Summer Wind. If you use a satellite view you will see this is not the case. This is a front row, ocean front home!

This was perfect spot for a short stay in Galveston. The beach house was beautiful. The views were spectacular and the beach was perfect!

This place was beautiful. We were very pleasantly surprised by the closeness to the oceanfront. My only complaint about this rental are simple fixes. The water upstairs (3rd floor bathroom) did not work. The lock at the front door was difficult. I would suggest that be replaced. I alerted the owner and he was very responsive. We will absolutely be renting this place again.

The best thing this property has going for it is the location. I was appreciative that John allowed us to amend our stay and add our pet after the initial booking. Communication was pleasant and timely. The house is right in the beach and has amazing views and convenience to the beach. You can literally walk to the beach directly from the house. However, the cleanliness of the house is not what I’d hoped it would be. There were stains and dirt on the walls and doors and cabinets in the kitchen. It appears in some places that there has been significant water damage that has not been repaired. There was built up dust on the baseboards, return vent, and on general items in the house. The linens seemed clean. This house is superb for location, but looks very used. The kitchen was adequately stocked for cooking, but some pans were dirty and several utensils (knives, pizza cutter) were worn out. The main shower was also laughably tiny, like it belonged in a mobile home or something. I am 5’1 and found it difficult to turn around in. So, overall, great for location and view, but overpriced based on condition of the home.

The downstairs patio is completely covered by the house above...and ALWAYS has plenty of wind. And, the house AC works PERFECTLY! We always had problems in Surfside with ACs that didn't always do their job. This is now our go-to house during the summer. No need to look elsewhere. And you are 10 minutes from Randalls on 61st Street.

This was our fourth time to stay at this property and we love it. The house is super clean and has everything needed except food. Walk down the stairs and right on the water. Plus the beach is private and no vehicles allowed. We will always stay here each time we bring the whole family to Galveston.

3rd stay at this beachfront gem

We love relaxing on the covered decks and porches so close to the water. The location is great for the children walking back and forth to the beach. We have enjoyed 7 gorgeous evenings while staying here.
