A little about the location:
Set in the Garfagnana countryside but conveniently situated to walk into the village/town of Gallicano, with some bars, restaurants, Pasticceria, bakery and even a hypermarket. The mulino is not far from the valley road for easy exploring. This is the perfect base, being just 40 minutes from Lucca, and less than 10 minutes to the mediaeval town of Barga and the market town of Castelnuovo. There are plenty of towns and villages to visit, and for the adventurous there are zip wire parks, cave systems, canyon walking, river canyoning, and paddle boarding. If you prefer a quiet day there are plenty of stunning places to have a picnic, or just relax in the garden amongst the olive trees, with the sound of the river nearby.

•Unspoilt Garfagnana full of hillside villages and stunning countryside along with 2 National Parks. Visit the fortress of Verrucole, or go climbing and zip wiring in the forest at Parco Buffardello, or zipwire over the lake of Vagli.
•Barga - beautiful medieaval town known for its views, restaurants, music festivals and art – 10 minutes
•Castelnuovo – characteristic market town with river through it – 10 minutes
•Lucca – stunning medieval city, with fully intact walls which you can walk, run or cycle around. Interesting architecture, cobbled streets, lots of Piazzas for people watching with a glass of wine or gelato. There are cultural events, regular antiques markets, designer shops, opera recitals etc. 40 mins
