We loved our stay!! The house was spacious with incredible amenities. We live in Chicago, so getting away to a quiet, more remote area for the weekend -while still being such a short drive to downtown Galena and even a shorter drive to the Owners Club was great. We made several fires in the fireplace with ease, we made dinner Friday night and had all necessary supplies, and we loved the hot tub while stargazing! The master bed was comfy, there were lots of board games to play and the home was decorated in a way that made you feel at home. If I had to provide any constructive feedback, I would have the kitchen knives sharpened and have matching Tupperware - was hard to find a lid that matched. There were also lots of little ladybugs all over which didn’t bother us much, but something buzzing loudly in the bedroom (a bug I assume) did wake up and startle me. We will definitely be back if we visit Galena again!

We had a wonderful time at the log cabin. We travelled with our 3 kids under 8 and they absolutely loved the atmosphere. As expected in an older home, the heat made the primary bedroom very hot and the basement was freezing. The kitchen was incredibly well stocked, and there were plentiful clean and fresh towels. The hot tub was amazing and worked well. Location is close to Chesnut Mountain for skiing. We also went to the pool in the owners club, which is a great amenity. We would absolutely return!

The house was not clean. Needs a good dusting, carpets in bathroom looked like it had been a long time since they were washed. Can’t even believe the condition of the burner wells on the stove. So old and filthy I mean how much money does it cost to buy new ones! The worst was the mouse problem poop all over kitchen I think it’s time they call in the professionals. Guests shouldn’t have to put up with that.

Nice location, very comfortable and plenty of space. Lots of wildlife and views are amazing! House could have used a deep cleaning getting rid of all the spiderwebs and dead bugs. Also, maintenance on the sliding patio door and screen should be completed or maybe even replace them. Overall enjoyed our stay and would recommend this house to others.

Great get away

This spot was the perfect house for my bachelorette party. The house had so many great amenities and so much space. Me and my friend had such a great time being able to relax and take the beautiful scenery, as well as enjoy the hot tub and the owners club pool.

Fun and spacious

The house was beautiful and had plenty of space for all of us. The only complaint was how many bugs and spiders were in the house, mostly in the bathrooms, luckily not in the bedrooms. We had a great stay!

Great stay

Got back to reality today and I miss this home and Galena already , every was great with the house , a couple of minor fixes such as the patio screen door and a little dusting and it’s good to go . No major complaints at all . The owners were communicative and it made it very easy .

Liked the place so much we came back with our adult kids.

We have stayed at this property in the past with a group of friends. We liked it so much we decided to give our adult kids and their significant other a weekend getaway with us at your property. They loved it!! Unfortunately it looks like it needs a little TLC to make it an amazing property. Overall though we enjoyed it and would come back again for sure!

Family gathering

Have been visiting family in galena for years, and this time decided to rent a home rather then stay with family. This home was beautiful and spacious. The downstairs had a bit of a mildew smell, but the home was very clean. Communication was easy and quick! Would rent again!

Nice property in a quiet area

Large house with many rooms and bathrooms. Able to accommodate our group of 5 women. Wish we could have stayed longer. The only suggestion I have would be to have a fire pit. That would have been perfect. Overall we had a great stay and would definitely come back here

Everything we needed but..

Loved the place everything we needed . Only complaint was the upstairs master had a lot of Asian beetles in it . Was woke up a few times from them crawling on me in the bed . I understand they are a nuisance but in the winter should be vacuumed out before we stay .

Perfect Stay

If you like rustic, this is the place for you! Absolutely gorgeous view of the hills around us. The place is a bit dated, but for a night stay for myself and my kids to celebrate Christmas, it couldn't have been better! It's a little dark inside, but was a perfect setting with the Christmas tree and decor. The hot tub was awesome at night, and it was even snowing both nights and could as could be, as we had a cold front come through. We'd definitely return and would like to stay in the spring. Possibly do every Christmas there! Just a fun, cozy place!

BEAUTIFUL SCENERY & OWNERS CLUB AMENITIES

Huge house (wouldn't EVER refer to it as a "resort"). Let's start w/ the GOOD: The views are BREATHTAKING! The hot tub on the deck was SO important lol (we all needed the pre-sleep calm from it), The wood-burning fireplace inside the combined living/dining room & open kitchen area was PERFECT for the nightly country chill. The Owners Club amenities are FABULOUS!!!! Outdoor & indoor pools, play areas, ample parking, access to boat rentals, etc. at the marina (we rented a pontoon our last day, highlight of our weekend). Here's the not so good: the cleanliness of the interior left much to be desired. Spider webs everywhere, our son's toy rolled under the master bed and when I looked underneath, I slightly gasped., stove wasn't clean enough that smells from food remnants, etc. on burners caused heavy burning odors. The bed linens smelled, not sure like what, but it wasn't pleasant. All in all, okay place to stay. Don't expect luxury, bring a few of your own bath towels (plus pool towels, if needed for your use), a sheet set for each bed that will be occupied, bring dishwashing liquid and/or dishwashing machine detergent.
