Welcome to our family's lake house - Dock Holiday

UPDATE: We just added a brand new bathroom! There are now 2 bathrooms on the main level and 1 bathroom upstairs. The new bathroom upstairs has a vanity with 2 sinks, toilet, and tiled shower. We don't have pictures yet but will upload them as soon as we can.

Trade in your troubles and stress for a relaxing, fun-filled stay at Dock Holiday! Bask in the sun on the roof deck of our brand new, deep-water dock, or unwind in the shade underneath as the sounds of the water lull you to sleep. Bring or rent your own boat and jet skis and park them in safety. After spending a day on the water come recharge inside one of Lake Lanier's first lake-side homes (recently expanded and completely renovated).

Our house is jam packed with features:
- Expansive open floor plan with 20ft timber frame ceilings
- Chef's kitchen with high-end appliances and fully stocked with kitchenware and dishes
- Long farmhouse dining table with seating for 12, plus additional seating for 8 at the countertop bar
- Brand new everything: kitchen, bathrooms, fixtures, flooring, paint, doors and trim, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, furnishings, and dock
- Covered deck with gas grill
- Outdoor fire pit with grill grate for charcoal or wood-fired cooking


And don’t forget our fabulous dock!
- The largest dock you can build for a single home on Lake Lanier
- Covered slips available at no extra charge for a boat and up to 2 jet skis
- Huge roof deck on top for hanging out and enjoying the view
- Swim platform with easy access ladder
- Kayaks, paddle board, oars/paddles, and life jackets are included with your booking
- A large floating mat can be rented for an additional fee
- Plenty of space in the driveway or side yard to park your boat or jet ski trailer

As the county seat of Hall County, the historic town of Gainesville has lots to offer. With so much to do and see you may find yourself coming for the lake but staying for the local attractions and events. During your stay you’ll have access to our own personal guidebook for the best things to do and places to see, shop, and dine in the area. Most of the opportunities are just a short 20 minute drive from Dock Holiday.

Explanation of Fees:
All bookings are charged a $99 Administrative Fee (or Host Fee). VRBO settings would not let us name the fee for what it actually is, which is Damage Protection Insurance, so we had to call it an "administrative fee". This fee is in lieu of VRBO's own damage protection insurance and covers you for accidental damages to the house above and beyond your security deposit up to $3,000. Please see our Rental Agreement for further details. Also, VRBO automatically collects state and county taxes.

Unplanned Stay Turned Future Getaway

Our stay at Dock Holliday turned out to be a much-needed escape after our home was severely damaged by Hurricane Helene. The property’s name, a clever nod to Doc Holliday, the legendary figure from Georgia, hints at the kind of rugged charm and character you can expect. Though I’m not a movie buff, I couldn’t help but appreciate the connection to history and adventure, and this place certainly lives up to that spirit. Zac and Dawn, the owners, were incredible hosts, offering more than just a place to stay—they gave us a sense of home when we needed it most. And Renee, who handles the property’s upkeep, went above and beyond, even leaving a thoughtful gift after hearing about the storm damage to our house. Her genuine care for people was a bright spot during a tough time. Her attention to cleanliness is second to none. Good people recognize good people and the owner's and their team clearly know this. The house itself had everything we needed, especially for the kids, who were able to unwind and enjoy activities like stand-up paddleboarding. My oldest daughter, Georgia, honed her skills on the water, and the space allowed us all to reconnect and find some peace amidst the chaos. Gainesville and Lake Lanier offered the perfect backdrop for a temporary escape. We hadn’t considered this area for a quick getaway before, but our stay at Dock Holliday changed that. We’re now thinking of returning for future weekend retreats! Very refreshing experience! Cody Tangeman

Everything we hoped for & more

We stayed at Doc Holiday for the last part of our holiday and wish we had booked for longer. Amazing location on the Lake and great amenities with paddle board, kayaks and floats. House had everything we needed. Beds were comfortable and location was quiet. Hosts provided a useful starter pack and the indoor entertainment was good fun. Local supermarket was a short drive away and it was easy to get to downtown Gainesville for some larger stores. We especially loved sitting by the lake in the evening, seeing the deer and some amazing birds in their local natural habitat. Would rebook if we are ever in the area again.

Great family fun

We loved this place. It was perfect for our family ages 4-71. The house is beautifully decorated, clean and functional for all our meals, fun indoor activities like doing puzzles, reading and playing games. We spent most of our time on the fabulous dock in the water with the splash pad. The beds were comfy with high end linens.

Dock Holiday is definitely our Huckleberry

1st and foremost the owners are the most attentive owners we have ever dealt with! Literally returning every text with minutes sometimes seconds. The home is exquisite and the online pics do it no justice! The home is beautiful, the furnishings are great, plenty of room to lounge and be family! The upstairs entertainment area is a blast, great shuffle board table and foosball table, nice place to play cards and the bunk room was a great for our 4 children that accompanied us! Now to the fun stuff, this is by far the best dock we’ve ever been on at a VRBO, we have stayed at places on Lake Keowee and Lake Hartwell and this dock was by far the nicest, cleanest and easiest to utilize. Honestly just an exceptional space and it’s a double decker to top it all off! The burn pit is also one the nicest and a great place to end the day with a some s’mores and/or a beverage of your choice. We will 100% be returning next year thank you again for an amazing vacation! Definitely a Dock Holiday

The house and communication with property owner was excellent! However, we spent most of our time together on the dock - plenty of space and shade. Great, quiet location on the lake to paddle, swim and jump off the dock. We all loved it and would stay again!

Beautiful house with great amenities.

This spacious home features generously sized bedrooms and bathrooms, high-quality appliances, and kitchen amenities. The deck and dock offer stunning views, and the well-equipped dock adds to the overall allure of the property. Nice linens and towels were provided. You will need to bring your own beach towels.

This was a fantastic visit to the lake. The property was clean and perfectly furnished/ decorated... the owner was available for questions and the dock was pristine... we rented a jet ski one day and we easily loaded and unloaded riders on the dock. We used the kayaks and paddle boads that were provided! We had fires and played board games in the evenings. Everything was absolutely perfect for a peaceful lake vacation!!! Thank you Dock Holiday!!!!

Labor Day amazing

My children and I who are 14, 12 and 6 had the most amazing long weekend staying at this lovely home. It had everything we could have needed. The house was clean, well equipped kitchen, awesome floor plan. The memories can’t be beat. I cannot thank you enough and i would love to come back!!

Wonderful Time

This house was perfect for our multi age family. The kayaks and paddle board were a real hit with the teens and mat a huge hit with the little ones. The kitchen/living area was perfect. Huge..Room for puzzles on the floor, watching golf, cooking with the family and legos on the table. Room for all. We have been laying on Lanier for 50 years and this was the most pleasant and least crowded area and most beautiful. Zac is an amazing communicator and the trip was flawless. We will be back!

Wonderful weekend get away

We had an amazing time relaxing amidst the gal foliage with beautiful views of the lake. Despite some chilly weather in the mornings, we still had an amazing time on the lake with the kayaks and paddle board, visiting an apple orchard, and hiking to see a nearby waterfall. I’d absolutely rent this property again!

Chopped Challenge..

The home was beautiful. We did a Chopped Challenge type event and it went beautifully. 3 different courses, 3 teams. I did bring all the necessary utensils and pans, but we wouldn’t have been able to do it without the beautiful double islands. We spent time on the dock and had a lovely night around the fire pit. The walk to the dock was invigorating on the way back, but it was worth it to enjoy the water. We had soooo much fun playing foosball. It was a wonderful experience.

Perfect private getaway just outside the city

This beautifully decorated and well-stocked Lakehouse is the perfect private getaway for a couple or the whole family, and it’s just outside the city! I never thought I would find a place so calm, peaceful, and secluded on Lake Lanier! I always thought I had to travel to one of the smaller lakes 3 to 4 hours from home. But this is a wonderful find and we would definitely be coming back! The house was perfectly clean, beautifully decorated, and extremely well stocked! I absolutely loved the mid century modern decor! We had everything that we needed. The listing is exactly as described. There are plenty of games for the kids, the cutest loft area with bunkbeds for them to sleep. The kids loves playing foosball up in the loft as well. The fire pit was fantastic with plenty of wood for us to use. We made s’mores every night! The access to the lake was right outside your door and we had as much fun playing and swimming off the dock as we did renting a boat and going out on the lake! The cabin’s three kayaks and paddle board provided hours of fun for both us and the kids. The kids loved being able to take out their own kayak. This part of the lake was absolutely perfect. It’s in its own private cove with plenty of space to JetSki or boat. The hustle and bustle of Lake Lanier is nowhere near you at this part of the lake. We rented a boat and were perfectly comfortable trying to teach the kids how to ski right in front of the house with no big boats to worry about! The owners left us the cutest welcome basket with a bottle of wine and a sweet card, and the house is well stocked with the basics in the kitchen. It was nice of them to supply some coffee as well! It seems like a small touch but I absolutely loved that all of the bathrooms had liquid hand soap dispensers. I always thought that that was something lacking in rentals that makes such a big difference. We had a fantastic stay and will definitely come back! Thank you!

Very nice house. Pretty clean. Excellent part of the lake and dock. Could use some spider webs knocked down. Maybe a little upgrade to the kitchen utensils and small appliances. Outsdie of that would definitely stay again.

Great lake getaway!

My family chose to stay here for 3 nights during the week of the 4th of July. The accommodations were the perfect size for our family of five, plus my in-laws and three nieces stayed for a night as well. (The kids ranged in age from 9 - 20.) I loved all of the bed sizes; we never felt crowded in any of the rooms (which is hard sometimes with our family size) and the upstairs is as cute as it can be! I think it was my favorite area of the house. The location on the lake was also just what we were looking for - quiet enough for the kids to tube and paddle board easily. The dock was fabulous as well; loved the sitting area on the lower level and the lake toys they provided! The only (slightly) negative things I can think of is that the upstairs guests have to come downstairs to use the bathroom and there are not TVs in the downstairs bedrooms. (But, everyone has a phone or tablet, so it's really not an issue.) We would definitely stay here again; I highly recommend it and we had a wonderful time.
