Stunning 1 Bedroom Fishermans Cottage Located In The Beautiful Village Of Pennan

Pennan is a gorgeous little seaside village made famous from the eighties film - Local Hero where a business man falls for the charm and the pace of life the village has to offer. This is still true today, you will feel yourself relax as you wind down the steep road towards the village with breath-taking views of the sea in front of you. The house has been restored with deep consideration to its original features and new additions including artisan wood work and luxury bathroom. The village has a fantastic restaurant and pub and there are brilliant walks nearby offering a restorative getaway for guests. A starter set of logs and kindling is provided, guests to provide their own logs and kindling thereafter.

Inside the house:

* On the ground floor there is an open plan kitchen and sitting room with a traditional wood burning stove. There are hand crafted touches throughout including the whiskey barrel window seat and hand made dining table. There is a well equipped kitchen thoughtfully designed to fit around the 19th century home.

*Upstairs on the first floor is the bedroom with a king-size bed, beautiful window seat and a wood burning stove. The en suite bathroom includes a shower and deep soaking tub.

*On the top floor there is a relaxing sitting room with bespoke furniture, a telescope and stunning sea views, the perfect place to relax with a book while listening to the waves...

The property is fantastic retreat offering guests a wonderful holiday with the idyllic setting and beautiful touches throughout. Bed linen, towels, picnic set, cleaning products and kitchen essentials are provided.

Not impressed with standard of cleanliness overall, oven not great microwave needs updating, only 1 tea towel, window blinds didn't work properly,felt everything needed deep clean and fresh decoration.. Glass panelled front door needs curtain,/blind for privacy furniture in general tired e.g. sofa, cushions and window seating grubby and stained and outdoor area and garden furniture very poorly maintained .

This was the most beautiful spot. The beach and views are incredible. The house was charming, comfortable, clean, well stocked. The fireplace was perfect as were the fun boardgames and movies. Absolutely loved everything here.

What an amazing stay at the ‘Wee House’. Small but perfectly formed with everything you need for a comfortable and cosy stay. Pennan and the surrounding areas are stunning. We explored so many places and enjoyed many walks. Nearby Crovie and Gardenstown, and along the coast to Cullen. The views from the nearby ruins of St John’s church are well worth the walk. The property is so close to the sea we loved hearing the waves lull us to sleep each night. The log fires were a very welcome addition, especially after a quick dip in the sea in October! We loved our stay and would return in a heartbeat.

I love the Wee Cottage! My husband joined me for the first 4 days and I stayed for another 10. The cottage is SO cute and just what everyone wants for a writer's retreat! My husband and I did the Duff House walk & Banff history walk (there is a WalkHighlands website that has a ton of walks). For dinner we went to a lovely restaurant at the top of the hill in MacDuff, Knowles Hotel. We also grabbed groceries as there is no shop in Pennan!We went to Macallan for tastings and dinner at Time:Spirit (you’ll need reservations for both). I would recommend lunch versus dinner (6 vs. 10-courses) or head to The Craigellachie Hotel pub, we had an excellent lunch. In Aberlour, there is a lovely butcher, great fancy foods store, Walker Biscuit factory and store, and the walk up to the Linn waterfall is fun. Keith also looks great, but we didn’t have time!Johnson of Elgin has a full factory tour that was very worthwhile. Seeing the full operation was one of my favorite things and we then had a full tea there. They only do the full tea with 24-hours notice so make a reservation. We enjoyed walking around Elgin as well and did stop at a few of the small towns on the way. Without a car, Pennan means a bunch of walking which was just what I was looking for! Gardenstown and Cullen are great!I spent lots of days just hanging out, walking the Pennan beach head, enjoying Coastal Cuppie and Pennan Inn, and sitting in my cashmere socks (Johnson of Elgin).I’ll be back for two weeks again!

This is one of the most beautiful and charming places I've ever stayed! Pennan is beyond compare in its grace, allowing you to reconnect with the world, taking a break from it.The cottage is superb, perfect in every corner. I can't believe how you can become attached to a place in just one night, but that's what we felt: a home away from home.It has everything you need, cared for by someone who cares, where everything is thoughtful and considered. Kate was an exceptional host and a pleasure to talk to!Definitely a comeback place

Wee Cottage

A beautiful wee cottage, exactly like the photos but of course so much more because of its location. The kitchen is well organised, the bathroom spotless and the host is lovely. A relaxing place to stay. I loved the attic room with the little window giving a view to the sea and space to do some yoga.

Herrlicher Blick aufs Meer aus wunderschönem Häuschen

Ein kleines Häuschen, bei dem sich kängere Menschen gewiss das eine oder andere Mal den Kopf an der Treppe anstoßen in einem winzigen Örtchen. Bei frischen Außentemperaturen zwischen 3 und 12 C mussten wir uns mit dem Kaminofen viel Mühe geben, hatten es dann aber sehr gemütlich und den Blick vom Sofa und vom Bett direkt auf die See sehr genossen. Costal Cupy ( eine Kaffeebude mit selbstgebackenen Kuchen) und der Pennan Inn waren sehr lecker. Spaziergänge an der zerklüfteten Küste haben uns viel Spaß gemacht.

Such a stunning unique place. The ‘wee house’ was just what we hoped it would be -cosy, warm, safe and everything you need. Set in such a picturesque spot and close to other stunning bays as well. The view out several windows is better than you could dream of!

Really enjoyed our stay at Wee House in Pennan - such a beautiful place. Whether you're staying local or going off to explore the area, coming back to the house is just lovely.
