Come stay in our bright and spacious modern home located just 5 minutes from the town of Franz Josef in the heart of glacier country!

Take in the impeccable glacier country mountains and views of Lake Mapourika while lounging on the large deck or open the sliding doors and enjoy from the comfort of inside. This is a perfect 3 bedroom home away from home for family and friends.

To fully experience Glacier Country, you need to immerse yourself in the landscape. It is not until you make footprints on a high alpine snow field, journey deep into the towering rainforests, explore the blue ice caves of the glaciers, tackle a trout on a beautiful lake, jetboat up a glacial river, or contemplate the mountain reflections in Lake Matheson that you will truly encounter our wilderness.

Choose from Glacier Country adventures, including guided glacier walks, kayaking, kiwi encounters, quad biking, clay target shooting, off-road buggies, tandem skydiving and white-water rafting. There is also a range of scenic flights (helicopter or fixed wing, with or without snow landings), horse treks, hot pools, boat trips, kayaking and more. The diverse range of activities in and around Franz Josef is available all year round.

Place was just right for the three of us. Very convenient to town, kitchen well equipped, nice and quiet at night, was able to open the windows and survive the night under super thick bed clothes fit for artic winters as are most places these days

Wonderful house in a fabulous location. Franz Josef is an amazing place but the village can be really busy. This is a few minutes outside of town, beautiful location and the house has everything you could want.

Clean and convenient

Super clean and comfortable. Convenient to town but quiet neighborhood. Beautiful view out the back windows. Our timing coincided with cold rain but it would be lovely to open up the whole back of the house in nice weather.

Completely unresponsive property manager

The property manager was totally unresponsive. Multiple attempts to communicate through Brbo and email went unresponsive. We had some issues with the stove, lack of kitchen supplies, minimal outside furniture, not very comfortable common spaces. Only positive features are the open kitchen and mountain view.

Superb spacious house with views and privacy - perfect for couples or larger groups

Spacious place to spread out in on the inevitable odd rainy day in this fantastic location! Comfortable and modern throughout, stylish living area, excellent couples shower in one bathroom, big bathtub in the other - great water pressure, generous space for clothing, one bedroom has a huge walk-in wardrobe, and there's a handy computer desk nook. Easy parking, great views all around that make it easy to assess the weather and plan your activities (more accurate than the weather forecasts). We loved staying in this place, drive into FJ is only about 5min, totally worth it!

Peaceful and comfortable

Property located a little bit out of town in a quiet area. Very spacious home with large bedrooms and living areas. Very comfortable beds. Nice fully equipped kitchen. Lounge furniture was comfortable, lacking a coffee table. TV had a shadowy screen fault which impacted viewing and would need to be rectified. Large stain on carpet in entry hallway wasn’t a very welcoming sight. Garage not available for parking as it contains laundry, hanging space for towels/linen and owners equipment storage. Overall enjoyed our stay in this spacious and comfortable home, recommended.

Great place for a quiet stay in Franz Josef

Lovely house in a quiet area in Franz Josef. Very comfortable. It would have been good to have a coffee plunger, colander a few larger bowls for salads, etc. Apart from that, lovely place and great communication with the owner. Would recommend.

Best House on the Westcoast!!!

Franz Josef Villa was the best house on the Westcoast we have stayed in so far. It had everything we wanted and was super warm! The layout of the house is great and very modern! It was a home away from home for us. The views and landscape around the house is Amazing! It is so quiet so therefore we had a great sleep! We will definitely stay there again! It was a treasured find! Thank you! Franz Josef Villa is very highly recommended by our family!
