"We’ve just had a wonderful stay with our two dogs. From the initial booking to follow up messages everything was handled well. On arriving late we were met by the restaurant manager and shown to our room which was very nice. Needs a little bit of maintenance on the old windows so that they all be open but otherwise all was good. Breakfast was excellent and served in the bar so our dogs could be with us. Similarly we had evening dinner in the garden room. The grounds are lovely with lots of walks...

"Burts is family run. Nick and staff make sure that everything is perfection. The food is exemplary and the quality of the linen for the bedrooms is first class. My room was on the second floor and was spacious. My only small gripe would be to replace the shower enclosure curtain with a glass screen. Otherwise, highly recommend this lovely hotel."

"The room was gorgeous and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Especially when it came to getting us a cab to get us into the city. Highly recommend if you want a historic & unique stay. It was just far enough to escape the chaos of The Fringe, but also close enough that getting a cab to city or taking the train from Musselburgh was easy."

"Contacted the property multiple times to confirm arrival time, booking stated check in was at latest 11:30pm. Never received a response and when we had arrived prior to 11:30 we were left standing outside for 40 minutes waiting calling and finally we're able to get in not even from the person at the bnb (she was asleep). Room was tiny not what we had booked, bed was hard as a rock same with pillows. Bathroom door wouldn't close properly and the handle was falling off. Wifi barely reached room...

"Excellent hotel. Rooms are spacious and you get 15% off the lovely coffee shop next door. We came from and overnight flight and checked our luggage with them, when we came back still early for check in they already had a room and our luggage was brought up to it."
