The Sassy Shack was everything we wanted and needed for a relaxing and healing holiday week. The location is great, and we loved being only steps from the beach. We spent the majority of our time at the house on the porch and deck. The beds are very comfortable, and the house is decorated with a lot of love. The walk to good food and coffee made our vacation all the more enjoyable. We hope to stay again in the future.

This house has a lot of potential, but I would not recommend anyone staying here until a mold remediation has been performed. The most serious issue is that we believe there is a mold problem that goes beyond simply an older house smelling musty. Nearly everyone in our family ended up with a health issue, from a full sinus shutdown to sore throats and headaches to just feeling crummy when actively inside the home. A more minor issue is that one of the bathrooms has a shower that won’t drain, so you are standing in 6 inches of water while showering. The pool is actually very nice, but I think the owners should have the air quality tested before allowing anyone else to stay here.

Charming and relaxing retreat

The Sassy Shack was a great place for our group to relax and enjoy Folly Beach. The pool was clean and well-maintained with comfortable seating. The beach was a very short distance away. We also enjoyed the fun artwork on display.

Bait and switch

The rental company changed property without notification. Only reason I noticed is because I actually read the rental contact. Unit provided - cockroaches, condom wrapper, no pool access (even after rental company confirmed it was ready for use prior to arrival). On a more positive note - the unit we had was decorated well, perfect location, and beds comfy.

Good Folly stay

Overall a nice property in an excellent location - very short walk to the beach. The newer pool is well maintained and wonderful for kids. The house is on the older side, with doors that don’t always latch and bathrooms/kitchen that could use a little TLC. But found it met our family’s needs and budget and would potentially stay again.

Folly near the water

Great location right near beach. Beautiful views and the inground pool is spectacular. Interior of house is very dated and has not been updated much. Many of the rooms doors do not latch and the furniture is quite old. Some fixtures are likely original to the house. Exterior of house is not impressive. Beautiful front porch with views to ocean. If you are looking to rent rustic near the beach with a nice pool and lot, this is your place.

Excellent location and accommodations

We had an amazing time staying at The Sassy Shack and hope to come back someday! The pool was perfect and the location can’t be beat. So many great artistic features of the furnishings, also made it so special. It has just about everything you need to make great food and drinks. Plenty of towels were provided and it was very clean and organized. Hope very much to return!

Great location. House is very basic but mattresses were good. Kitchen is mostly one of a kind so if you have favorite knife or tools pack them. Lots of bugs inside. A bit too cool for pool but very pretty.

What's not to like...great screened in porch, right across the street to beach, pool to dip, outside shower, walk to town, plenty of sleeping space. never turned on tv. Played games on living room table. used outside grill for fresh fish.

Great Location

Overall stay was good. Management company contacted me a few days before arrival informing me that the homeowner would be in town for a conference and would be staying in the ground level unit. This caught me off guard a bit - informing rather than asking, especially since I was looking for a rental where we had the entire property. In the end it was fine because the homeowner was only there for 2 days (one night). As far as the property and amenities, I have the following comments: -Pool lounge chairs were in bad shape - wood slats broken and overall frail feeling -toilet paper and paper towels was very limited for the duration of our stay -shower curtain was stained and quite gross -location to beach and restaurants was incredible (easy walk to everything) -screened in porch in front of house was great to escape the mosquitos yet still have fresh air

My girls and I had such a fabulous weekend at Sassy! It was such a close walk to the beach and the pool was so pretty and relaxing. The backyard felt super private and the screened in porch was a dream. 10/10 recommend, would love to come stay again!!

Well appointed, airy and cozy beach rental

My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Sassy Shack this spring. The house was amazing - cozy and decorated with a cool beach vibe. The pool was the biggest attraction for my kids; mine was the screened in porch and walks on the beach! This was our first trip to Folly Beach and Sassy Shack but it won’t be our last!

Our stay at the Sassy shack

We loved our vacation at the sassy shack. Charming old cottage right across from the beach. We loved the old feel of the cottage with updated furnishings. Screened in front porch was our favorite spot besides being poolside. Awesome fenced in yard with beautiful pool. With the additional basement space there is plenty of room. Basement space is not connected to main level space so we could not put our small children there but for older kids and teenagers it would be a perfect space for them. Kitchen has everything you need but it is a very small alley kitchen so if you plan to cook a lot or have multiple people helping with cooking it can get crowded quickly.

Wonderful Stay!

Loved this home, which was the perfect setup for our group. The downstairs unit was perfect for older teens who needed some getaway time, and the upstairs was our central hub for meals, porch sitting, etc. The location is away from Center Street craziness, which is great for families. Public beach access is just a short walk away. The pool was a wonderful addition and the yard is fenced and was spacious enough for games of corn hole. Our pup loved it! We had a little issue at first with the downstairs toilet not flushing, and the management co was very responsive. Will definitely return to this property!
