Title: Terrible Experience at Hotel Esperanza, Florence
We had a terrible and unpleasant experience at Hotel Esperanza. We chose this property because it was rated 9 out of 10 on Expedia, but our stay was extremely disappointing from the start.
First, the hotel is very hard to find — there’s no visible sign and it looks more like a row of parking garages than a hotel entrance. The lobby is on the second floor with no elevator, and guests must climb steep stairs just to check in.
When we asked if there were accessible rooms for disabled guests, the receptionist was extremely rude, saying, “If you don’t like it, you can leave without a refund.” We contacted Expedia for help, but they couldn’t resolve the issue. Shockingly, the receptionist even placed a disabled guest on the fourth floor (which is actually the third floor of the hotel due to the lobby layout).
Our room was dirty, the mattress uncomfortable, and the bathroom smelled terrible — you couldn’t sleep unless you kept the bathroom door closed because of the odor.
Overall, this was one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve ever had. We would strongly advise against staying here, especially for anyone with mobility issues or expectations of basic hospitality.
